Hell Froze Over

Fire up the rumor mill. Maybe a Guns n' Roses reunion will happen after all!

I suppose this is great news for them on an interpersonal level. So, good for them. Didn't expect it, though it was none of my good gosh darn business to begin with.

But the path back to a band is a long one, either touring or recording or both. I will be interested to see how this plays out.

How it'll pan out?, Less sh*t talkin' will be done by Mr. Bailey. (hopefully)

Slash pretty much has closed that book & is doing something entirely different.

All this does is keeps Steve Adler hopeful that he might play someplace bigger than the Whiskey, once again.

Oh won't you come home Bill Bailey.....Like Him pointed out,it's good they're finally civil again. (It's a start). Neither need the money. Slash certainly doesn't need the narcissistic head games "Bat Shit Billy" so specializes in. But if Eddie and Dave, or Don Henley and Glen Frey can plow through it, it certainly could happen here. There would be a literal shit ton of money to be made. (There'd probably be odds in Vegas on how many dates until the first inevitable meltdown/implosion. Lol.) Oh yeah. And I'm pretty sure that Steve,Duff, and Izzy (if they can find him and talk him into it) could all probably benefit from it a lot more than the " big 2". Nobody is getting any younger. I know I for one would pay the (no doubt) exorbitant ticket price to see it, because I never got to see them back in the day. All that said, I'd personally put the odds at no better than 50/50 for it to happen. There'd have to be a whole lot of bridges re-built and "guano" swallowed from over the years for it to come together. But it would be epic....\m/ 8-)

Doesn't really matter anyway, except from a sentimental standpoint. Axl's voice is completely wasted and shot!

Good for Axl and Slash. I guess. I'm only on board if they get Izzy. His work on Appetite was extraordinary and highly underrated. Best rhythm work this side of EVH. And yeah I went there. As much of a virtuoso as Eddie is, his rhythm is untouchable.

and to think , as a visitor from Boston, I walked out of a Troubadour show back in '85, because I had a headache and said 'this band will never make it, they suck!" as Motley's Theater of Pain was topping the charts. who'da think?

Don't care. Won't pay. Others can and will
Saw em in like 1989 and they were done by then anyway.
Only Popcorn Izzy and Duff make it complete.
For the amount they would charge I can see LA Guns, Kix, armored saint, Tesla and YnT headline and care about the set they play.
This reunion is for peeps revisiting their glory days passed by. I'm still in mine so to speak.

The Cheap Seats speaks the truth: Izzy was a crucial, low-key, member of the band, as sly and snide as they come . . . though without the endless need for the spotlight ("14 Years" still stands out as the best breakup song . . . in the making, sung by one of the guys most responsible for it!).

I won't hold my breath and I won't save money for a reunion (album, tour, or otherwise).

I'd love to see them live, mainly because I've never seen Slash in concert. Other than that, if they don't put out a new record, I don't care if they get back together musically.

I like when old bands put out new music. Yeah, I like the classics, but I like to hear some fresh stuff too.

Best news in a while. I would go. Never saw them back in the day.

I'd definitely go and see this in a heartbeat. I talked about this yesterday and people think I'm insane for the fact that I'd actually wait on the band. Well much to my very angry opinions on Axl I would wait as long as possible for the original band, because my thought is that this could possibly be the first and last chance I get to see them. The first four records still hold up, and are important to me, and every member really makes what Guns N Roses is, even with Matt Sorum. I don't know which drummer they go with if a reunion is really in the works. But Axl better hit the treadmill beforehand, because the Golden Gods performance was horrendous.

Speaking of chubby lead singers DJ, I saw Motley Crue Saturday night and they were amazing. Fantastic actually. Vince was great, singing pretty much every word. They were awesome actually and Tommy kept his techno crap to a minimum. Alice was amazing too. Great, great show. So glad I went.

I'm all for this... I gotta vibe it's gonna happen and it will be epic... AND it will be the original line-up AND it will have a new album most likely AFTER the first tour. They may do a single or EP as bait BEFORE the tour but it would have to be good.

Cheap Seats, as HIM hints, there's a helluva lot more to Stradlin than solid rhythm work. Hell, the guy WROTE half of "Appetite For Destruction", for chrissakes!

Rita, don't know if you've read it but the review I wrote here years ago regarding the last time I saw Crüe gave pretty much the same account of your synopsis above... They were killer AND Neil nailed it, unlike the 3 previous times I saw them. Looks like you got the luck of the draw!

Glad to hear the concert was great, Rita. Some might think I slag on Crue. I only wish them well actually. So it is nice to hear that another poster--one I admire--had a fun time seeing a great band.

I loved the most current version of GnR live (wrote, and defended, and corrected, the review on this very site). I have issues with _Chinese Democracy_. But I still find Axl to be that sort of frontman--Neil, Roth, etc.--that galvanizes critics (myself included) because they made so many memories for so many of us.

While Slash's sound is a part of the picture, it wasn't the only frame. Like I said, Izzy brought a lot more to the table than some credit him for doing, Axl amplified it, and the rest fell into place and made it work.

_UYI_ I and II were a sign of bloat. But many bands couldn't beat that bloat if they tried. In some strange way, I don't think a reunited band could do better than Axl and Co. did in Vegas recently. And they certainly can't capture the glories of the past. Together, though, in some form they might sell more tickets.

Still, mending fences isn't making albums. If (and I do mean if) they reform, let's hope they try for a spark in the bottle rather than a cash grab. No band owes us anything. But we feel cheated when they don't give us their best.

Yes guys, I was pleasantly surprised at how good Crue sounded. Heard quite a few complaints recently but they delivered the goods that night. That was my 4th time seeing them, the first being in 83 for the Shout At The Devil tour.

Made me a bit sad to think this could actually be the end for them. So glad I got a chance to Alice Cooper too. He blew me away. All in all, a great show. Catch it if you can.
August 25, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterRita
Yeah, there is no denying Axl was and is an incredible frontman alone. It's dwindled these days, but we will see what happens on the future. As far as Motley goes, I saw em about a month ago and they delivered. In the middle of writing a review. And to anybody that hasn't seen Alice Cooper, get a ticket if you can if he is anywhere near you doing a show. He never disappoints, easily the best show I have ever seen was Alice Cooper headlining. He's as old as my grandfather and he blows always 90% of these new "rock" bands.

No question, Dj: Alice Cooper still knows how to show the kids what it is like to put on a theatrical (and fun) performance. Would be great, with his elder statesman stature, if he could revisit a few more of the deep cuts in his catalog more frequently. Regardless, a great show.

Back to Axl, I also agree Dj. But now the rumors start, with fans on other sites getting euphoric or apoplectic at the thought of a reunion . . . based on scant details and rumors.

If they did do a festival like Soundwave, that strikes me as a cash grab. If they did a proper tour, I'd be interested. But I could only imagine the prices (given what other legacy acts were charging this summer). Still, those same aforementioned fans, best be careful what they wish for . . . as I said earlier, catching lighting twice is a rarity.

Perhaps the best idea is to take a page from the Sex Pistols and do a "Filthy Lucre" tour, owning the sheer shill involved.
