Joe Perry, Steven Tyler Get To Meet President Obama

So this is pretty cool. Steven Tyler and Joe Perry were delayed in Florida when President Obama's plane came to the same airport last week. If you've ever been at an airport when Air Force One comes in, you know all the other planes wait until the Commander in Chief touches down. So while waiting, Steven and Joe wandered around, took picture of the presidential plane and - because they are famous and Obama is cool - they were invited on Air Force One for a tour. Steven Tyler had met the president once before, but this was the first time for Joe Perry. I'm very jealous. 1) I want to meet Aerosmith 2) I want to meet Barack Obama, 3) I want to tour Air Force One.

I wonder if Steven made a joke about Aero Force One?

As they head down the stairs, Obama turns to his security detail and whispers: "There are two John Corabis?!!?"

Interestingly, like most American Hard Rockers (or borderline Heavy Metallists, i.e. "Round And Round" off "Toys In The Attic", the decibels of which when performed at The Pontiac Dome in 1975 are said to be the loudest ever documented for a Rock show), Steven Tyler and Joe Perry are staunch Republicans.

But that didn't stop them from meeting with PRESIDENT Obama. Or sending Trump a cease and desist for using their music at his "rallys".

p.s. Jack T. Ripper! Obviously, at least 55% of the country disagrees with you based on Obama's latest approval ratings, higher than Bush, Clinton, Bush Sr. and your hero, the biggest phony of them all, Ronald Reagan, who, just like Donald Trump, was nothing more than a "B" grade entertainer. All of this, despite a do nothing Republican led Congress stopping Obama at every turn. You're entitled to your opinion just so long as you're not stating it as fact.

HIM! Now THAT'S frickin' FUNNY!!!

Guess I'm confused...how is stating Obama as "the worst president ever" have anything to do with Donald Trump??

But just like most Dems do...they heap bile at anyone who disagrees with their ideals or agendas. Oh and then blame the other side for spewing hate. What a joke.

Right, JAT... Why not pile on, if there is a consistency of ineffectual and misguided points of view shared within your your party and it's agenda. And I find it laughable that you're only calling out "Liberals", when "Conservatives" are just as guilty of "piling on". All you have to do is watch FOX News to figure that out. Or maybe not, since you probably haven't.

But Trump is worse, which is why he won't ever be President. In fact, there will probably never be another Republican President until the Republican Party can elevate it's base with a more "enlightened" message. I could never figure out why anyone who is "middle class" would ever support a party that only gives significant tax breaks to the the ultra rich but not nearly as much to the middle class and expect that to really help anything. You're actually voting against your own best interest.

At least Trump has great taste in music, though... Satriani, Steve Vai, Quiet Riot, Twisted Sister (Dee Snyder asked him to remove them from his playlist, however) even The Stones, to name a few I've heard at his "rallys".

Metalboy,

I hope you aren't stating as fact anything aside from that Obama was absolutely the worst, complete & total failure as President, Because even the Federal Reserve Economic Data reports from his own administration show that he was a complete & total pile of sh*t.

Student Loans — "Federal government; consumer credit, student loans; asset, Level." Bump claims that a $600 billion increase in student loans since 2009 "isn't a big spike." I kid you not. Phil, it's not that far from representing a doubling of the per-person debt load.

Food Stamps — "Government social benefits: To persons: Federal: Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)." (Note: this is Food Stamp/SNAP program spending, not the number of recipients.) Bump says the problem here is that Obama "took office right after the recession began." Even if one excuses enrollment and spending increases in 2009 and 2010 on that basis, that doesn't explain why the enrollment kept going up and up during the next three years of the so-called "recovery," or why they're just starting to barely come down in just the past few reported months.

Federal Debt — "Federal Debt: Total Public Debt as Percent of Gross Domestic Product." Bump, clearly flailing at this point, complained that the chart goes back too far, and that a chart he showed, which begins in 1990, shows "that (the debt) increase began under his predecessor, George W. Bush, as an effort to address the financial crisis." That's horse manure. Obama has built up the national debt completely unrelated to the "financial crisis" by an average of more than $1 trillion per year since taking office. There's no conceivable way any rational person could consider this a continuation of something that started under Bush. Instead, Obama, especially with the help of the 2009 and 2010 Congresses, deliberately ramped up the size of the federal government during early years of his presidency and has kept those artificially high levels going and going ever since, deficits and debt buildups be damned.

Money Printing —"Monetary Base; Total." Completely off the rails here, referring to amounts in the millions when they're really trillions, while pretending that we're too stupid to understand that "money printing" in the modern era is a figure of speech describing "money creation" and not entirely bills coming off of printing presses.

Health Insurance Costs — Though I couldn't locate the graph at FRED, the underlying data comes from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. showed a separate graph which shows per-capita health care expenditures trending upward. Mr. Selective Memory obviously and conveniently "forgot" that Dear Leader promised that health insurance premiums would drop by $2,500 per family as a result of Obamacare. Instead — and his own graph would essentially prove this if applied to families instead of individuals — Investor's Business Daily showed in September that "family premiums have climbed a total of $4,865" since 2008.

Labor Force Participation — "Civilian Labor Force Participation Rate." Bump again claims that "the creator of the graphs cheats again, showing a section of the vertical axis." Phil, FRED gives users the ability to do that to help emphasize relevant points, and there's not a damned thing wrong with that. The rarely-gracious Bump "let it slide" here. What he didn't explain is how this rate, which was supposedly on the mend, fell by 0.4 percentage points during the past two months to a level rarely seen during the past 40 years. Rest assured that baby-boomer retirements don't explain this.

Zero Hedge replaced the above chart on "Workers' Share of Economy" with one on Black Inequality, which is at FRED under the title "Income Gini Ratio for Households by Race of Householder, Black Alone or in Combination." Bump presented a graph with a zero horizontal axis for white and black inequality to somehow demonstrate that "income inequality increased, but not that dramatically." Maybe you need to let Obama, Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton in on your secret, Phil.

Median Family Income — "Real Median Family Income in the United States." Bump laughably claims that the separate graph he provided "doesn't match the Trump chart, mind you, and it's not clear why." Uh, Phil, the real, inflation-adjusted figures match the Fed's graph exactly for the years presented. You just gave your graph a zero-value horizontal axis to smooth out what have in reality been steep real declines. (The idea that Bump appears not to realize this boggles the mind.)

Home Ownership — "Homeownership Rate for the United States." Bad home loans and the rapid expansion of home ownership played key roles in creating the conditions that led to the economic collapse. As a result, home ownership rates dropped." Too bad for Phil that Democratic Party housing policies and Democrat crony-run Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, helped along by "community organizers" like the late 20th-century Barack Obama, caused these "bad home loans" to be made.

EVIDENTLY, AEROSMITH'S DRUMMER, JOEY KRAMER WAS LESS THAN IMPRESSED WITH "THE MAGIC KENYAN"....

AEROSMITH Drummer Distances Himself From Bandmates' Encounter With PRESIDENT OBAMA

Joey Kramer has apparently distanced himself from his bandmates' recent chance meeting with President Barack Obama, saying that the surprise encounter "is not representative of AEROSMITH."

Tyler and Perry got to meet Obama Friday after the band's jet was delayed while returning to the U.S. after a South American tour. The plane was initially scheduled to leave an airport near Orlando before Air Force One shut down air traffic, but AEROSMITH ended up getting stuck on the runway. Obama was visiting Florida to campaign on behalf of Hillary Clinton.

"No better way to finish a beautiful South American tour," Tyler tweeted along with a photo of him and Perry sitting on Air Force One's stairs. "From Aero Force One to Air Force One... the best Welcome Home ever."

After a now-deleted post on AEROSMITH's official Twitter account showed a photo of Perry and Tyler "hanging out with President Obama on Air Force One," Kramer linked to the tweet on his own Twitter account and included the note: "This is not representative of @Aerosmith !"

A couple of AEROSMITH's Twitter followers quickly took issue with the rocker's comment, tweeting that the drummer — who is also the founder of the Rockin' & Roastin' coffee brand — "[made] his politics clear" and adding: "I wonder what all his employees and customers think? #Aerosmith" This led Kramer to reply in a series of tweets: "I didn't make anything clear ! I'm not saying who I support! I don't support anyone speaking for me ! Everyone has their right to their opinion it's called democracy & I support that"

Kramer has in a recent weeks retweeted messages in support of Donald Trump and against President Obama's signature health-care law. In addition, Kramer and Tyler both attended the first GOP debate in August 2015 as the Republican presidential nominee's guests. Furthermore, Donald has been to AEROSMITH's concerts, Tyler is reportedly a registered Republican, and Perry has stated in previous interviews that he has been "a hardcore Republican" his whole life.

Despite being a tried-and-true Conservative, Perry told Vanyaland that meeting Obama was "pretty amazing."

Tyler last year threatened to sue Trump if he didn't stop using AEROSMITH's "Dream On" during campaign events. But the singer's attorney later said the issue was purely of copyright and intellectual property.

I am amazed a simple posting about Joe Perry and Steven Tyler meeting the current sitting President of the United States can cause such hyper bole and anger. As someone pointed out Joe Perry is a registered Republican and they meet the President, not campaigning for Clinton or endorsing Trump, they meet the President.

This wonderful political campaign seems to bring out the worst in people.

I do not agree with Kevon or Metalboy's opinion on Clinton or Obama, not am I a fan boy of Obama or Clinton, or any politician, but when a simple posting about a two aging rockers can cause a political firestorm on a metal blog, I found that amazing. I did not see the original posting as being political at all, expect a fun, silly little music news item of Aerosmith meeting the president.

JAT: If you recall, Ripper posted several times about how great Trump is. Now he posts how Obama is the worst president in history.

as evidenced by..."Hillary should be and quite possibly WILL be wearing an orange jumpsuit after the FBI investigation! Kills Ripper to say but the country is better off with the mess thats in office now than a complete liar that gets our soldiers killed! Lets go Mr. Trump lets make America Great Or atleast better than the past 7 years!" -JTR

And, he has posted many other Trump endorsements. That's how it relates.

So..."But just like most Dems do...they heap bile at anyone who disagrees with their ideals or agendas. Oh and then blame the other side for spewing hate. What a joke." Um, no, JAT...do some research and read each person's perspectives not just those that you agree with.

This is why I sometimes watch O'Reilly or Hannity or Joe Scarborough in addition to watching Rachel Maddow or Bill Maher. I also watch Fox's The Five, mostly to see how much and how often Kimberly Guilfoyle swings and kicks her leg underneath the table when someone disagrees with her and her panties are bunched. And, most Sunday Mornings, with a cup of Java, I've been watching Fox's Chris Wallace for years.

C'mon JAT, "The mind is a terrible thing". :)

and now back to our regularly scheduled programming...

fletch, Metalboy!, and anyone else.......whatever. Ridiculous that this has turned into this garbage. I watch FOXNews, CNN, MSNBC and a host of other stations. I have watched every debate, heard the vast majority of speeches, etc.

Case in point on my opinion and statement about Liberals, It has been insinuated here that I am uniformed or some sort of idiot, I am neither Conservative nor Liberal. I am almost straight up the middle. I lean right on policies and left on most social issues. You can call me unenlightened or whatever but the fact remains, Liberals are typically ugly when defending their side of the argument. Really don't care if you believe that or not. I see it as fact.

jat: calm down. relax. breathe.

I forget which show I saw it on; who was interviewed and who responded. the question was, "why did you turn into a democrat after being republican most of your life?"

he answered, "because, in the scheme of things, democrats were historically always right about social issues; segregation, women's rights, prohibition, gay marriage, slavery, Nazi-ism, etc...

and truth be told, jat, I would not want to be on the supreme court to decide this transgender issue...that's for sure!
October 31, 2016 | Unregistered Commenterfletch
OK fletch, I'm over it. We don't have to agree. Just for future reference, when you tell someone to calm down, it's more than a little insulting. My preference is that you never say that to me again.

Now let's get back to what this site is suppose to be....Glam Metal!
