KIX, Queensryche Announced For Rock Fest

A really heavy lineup for this year's Rock Fest, set for July 14-16 in Cadott, Wisconsin. Headliners include Slipknot, Five Finger Death Punch, Alice In Chains and the supergroup Hollywood Vampires (Alice Cooper and Joe Perry). It's interesting to me that KIX and Queensryche were injected into the mix, but the lineup is really strong. I'd like to go to this... maybe someday. My concert budget is already allocated to the Guns n' Roses reunion and Rock on the Range. Are you attending Rock Fest?

Whole lotta drop tuned guitars sounds going on that weekend. \m/ Solid lineup. I'd go just to see Alice and Mr. Perry alone. 2 icons sharing the stage (with some lucky movie dude who knows 4 chords and the pentatonic scales along for the ride....Lol) . On a side note Breaking Benjamin was formed 35 miles up the interstate from me. Some talented kids (to me anyway,as I'm a fossil lmao) in that band that rose to national prominence. Anybody going check them out. You won't be disappointed.

I tend to agree with you, Gary, on the reasons to go (my area of the States is a festival wasteland!). Have to say, though, that both Alices help lift this bill. The post-Staley AiC stumbled a bit out the gate, but recaptured a solid sound on their second outing. Like Soundgarden. they have figured out a balance between who they were and where they are.

Kix? Enough said (esp. on this site . . . but why so low on the list?). Slipknot impressed me with their on-stage energy, if not their music. In terms of visuals, though, I think Manson had/has them beat. FFDP? Not for me. But I can understand the interest and see that the singer had picked up the slack from the lead guy in Papa Roach. Speaking of interest, Scott Stapp? Wow. Never cared for his music, but hope he is back in a better place.

After that, the lineup starts to blur for me (and not just because the font size starts getting smaller!). Skillet? Makes me think of Denny's, or the Iron-named truck stop feature of the same.

I will have to give Breaking Benjamin another go. Any suggestions where to start, Gary? Strikes me that you and I have similar tastes, even if I am a bit slower out the gate to embrace music post-80s.

Sadly, not an event to which I can get. Hope some that can will post their thoughts.

I'd wanna go just to see Steve Whitman, frontman from Kix boogie woogie and do his between song banter all over those miserable kids who wanna hear vocalists that just stand, scowl and growl. Lol. I hope they do the whole balloons at the end as well. Those "knot-heads" won't know what hit themselves.

Scott Stapp was such a self righteous tool back in day, I hope he has seen that preaching does not make one a good person.

I think Kix and Marioyn Manson should tour together one day. The yin/yang would probably solve all our problems, ISIS, climate change, the need for campaign finance reform/tort reform and mass shootings! Someone make it happen!

Have all these fests jumped the shark or what? Can't keep track.

Led Zeppelin2? Nivrana? Electric Eye? Who's Who? Man, talk about padding. Even one of the headliners, Hollywood Vampires, is in effect, a cover band, yet probably worth seeing.

KIX, Faster Pussycat, Station as well as Every Mother's Nightmare seem like the only other reasons to go and, unfortunately, not enough motivation for me to drag my a*s out there.

p.s. Funny stuff about Depp, Gary, though I've got the feeling he won't be there for this one.

Him. Anything off the first few albums rocks. It's the whole heavy,,drop tuned new metal, only with actual vocals, instead of some dude who sounds like someone is parking a bus on his nad sack right after he gargled with drano.

Say what you want about Slipknot, but I finally saw them last summer and they put on one hell of a show. They've got great songs, and a great stage setup, Corey can control a crowd really good..KIX and Faster Pussycat puts a lot of cool rock n roll to this lineup, they'll rock the crowd and put on a hell of a show as well. I don't know about Breaking Benjamin, but I see Wilson on the bill and they rule!! If you haven't checked em out, I suggest you do, they are a kick ads newer rock band that knows how to party, they've got some cool tunes, and from the videos I've seen, put on a great show. I've always loved Manson and Alice In Chains, and Bullet For My Valentine as well as Five Finger Death Punch are bringing a more diverse crowd to the metal scene. This lineup is pretty diverse, I like it.

You sold me, Gary. I will give them a listen. Thanks.

And you had me laughing. You sure can paint a picture with your words!!

Just to clarify: I agree with Kixchix about Stapp. But that was a dark place he was in last year. Perhaps I am getting misty in my old-ish years. Still, I would rather a person who made memories for a lot of fans be healthy and happy. So I wish him well. It costs me nothing even if I mean it. And if the whole process humbled him a bit, that is a happy side effect.

Once a self important pr*ck, always a self important pr*ck, HIM. Take it from me, as I am one myself and always will be. Stapp's a jacka*s of the highest order and an Evangelical Christian wack job, to boot. Plus, more importantly, and the key to what ultimately torpedoes him is his his music s*cks and always did!

And, Gary, I checked out WILSON when you recommended them as one of your Best of 2015's and they certainly are the REAL deal! Nice pick and you will love them, HIM. Now, Gary, if you wouldn't mind picking the talent for Super Bowl Halftime Show!

I refuse to tolerate any negative sentiments about my Metalboy! Even from yourself.

So get back on that high horse of yours and be the Metalboy! We all know and love ;)

Haha!!, Rita... I appreciate you saying that. In the words of Popeye, "I am what I am!" And Stapp sure as h*ll is who he is, and one thing I can surely tell you is I'm glad I'm not him! ROCK ON!

Been to Rockfest a few times. Nice setup. Wish the seats butted up right to the stage, but instead they have a small concourse that runs between the crowd and the band. VIP is really the only way to get a "seat". Otherwise and inclined hill with a lawn chair.

Total WI tailgate party atmosphere for 4 days. Campground and just visiting the sites is in itself a blast. Only time I've ever smoked in an actual tepee village :)

4 side stages that play between acts and each has its own moniker.
