'Don't Stop Me Now' - Queen +Adam Lambert Live

This is an epic performance. Queen + Adam Lambert performed at Rock In Rio Lisboa festival in Lisbon, Portugal last month. Just last night, Queen released a piece of pro-shot footage from the performance. It's the song "Don't Stop Me Now" and it is so good.

Now, I know there are plenty of you that say Adam Lambert isn't Freddie Mercury. Well, of course he's not. Freddie is and was the voice of Queen. But he is gone and Adam is honestly the next best thing. He's great for the band and helps bring in a younger fan base. Also, I'm still salty he came in second on American Idol all those years ago. But maybe that was a blessing. If he'd won, he probably wouldn't be sining for Queen right now.

Man I wish I could see them live.

I always said, since the first time I saw him on Idol, that I'd Freddie Mercury had spawned a son (I know,I know...lol) it'd be Adam Lambert. Kid does him justice each and every time he sings one of his songs. On a side note, the thing I always dug about Queen was their harmonizing ability.Their drummer,Roger Taylor, could have been a lead singer in just about any other band back in the day. He was their Michael Anthony...

Nobody will ever replace Freddie Mercury as Queen's lead singer. It simply can't be done. However Adam Lambert is the perfect stand-in. And on the bonus side, this keeps his occupied & too busy to create any more of the awful dreck that his own albums are full of.

*P.S. Cheers to Gary for noticing the spectacular vocal ability of Roger Taylor. Some of my favorite Queen songs are the ones Roger took the lead vocal on... "Tenement Funster" , "I'm In Love With My Car" etc. Anyone???

I feel that Adam Lambert does a great job with Queen. Freddie is dead; there's no getting around that. This gives the rest of the band the chance to get out and play the songs they helped create. I cannot think of anyone who could do a better job as a front man.
Have a great Saturday.

No denying he does a great job but every time I watch I can't help but wish Freddie was still with us.

Kids got some chops though and this is a perfect gig for him.

That was fun to watch.

I used to love American Idol, and I watched it religiously. Him not winning that year was the last episode I ever watched. The show was ruined from that point. It proved that the show wasnt about finding the best singer, as Americans have an insatiable need to root for the underdog instead of who is the best. Adam Lambert is a once-in-a-lifetime talent. But like you said, its very possible that him not winning was best for his career. But the night he lost was the beginning of the end for that show that was mercifully put down this year and was well past its expiration date.

Hear, hear, Kenny O.

Adam Lambert is quite good, no doubt. But his voice, incredible as it may be, is a tad generic compared to Mercury's very distinct vocals.

In the meantime, if you're looking to find Freddy Mercury reincarnated, look no further...

Can't add much. I agree. Adam is great. Freddie is the greatest!

MB thank you for introducing me to The Struts! Great song & image!! That vocalist is a dead ringer for Freddie circa 1976ish?.?. He can sing too. Eerily close to Mercury's tone but so different at the same time.

Cheers!

From the first time Adam played with Queen on American Idol, it was obvious there was an natural fit and chemistry. It's great to see that quite a few years later, they're still making this work in a very successful fashion. Freddie Mercury is arguably the greatest frontman there ever was, and though Adam can't replace Freddie (nobody can), it sure looks and "feels" like Queen to me. And that alone is pretty amazing.

Never understood why Queen didn't continue on with Marc Martel. I saw the Queen Extravaganza tour, and he was amazing!

Brickman, are you saying you believe Martel was better than Lambert? The reason I ask is I think Lambert, for all his pyrotechnical virtuosity, sounds a tad generic. I will check out the Martel era on YouTube. Thank you for the history!
