Def Leppard To Release 'Hysteria 30'

Oh my glam, I want this. Def Leppard will release Hysteria 30, a special 3oth anniversary package of Hysteria. The remastered box set will come out August 4th via Universal. The band is releasing a few different versions.

The biggest version is a $125 box set that will include a remastered version of Hysteria, lots of unreleased songs, a book and "In The Round" audio. There are 7 discs in this big package. It's available for pre-order on Amazon now. The other versions are vinyl packages and the like. Well, I want the big set. I'm trying to work through my feelings on spending $125 on an album I already own in every format ever released.

I'm excited the band is releasing this special package. I think it will be a great seller for them.

Unlike Motley Crue's Girls Girls Girls reissue, it sounds like you at least will get lots of value for your money with this set. Personally, I don't think any reissue this year will top Sgt. Pepper. the sound that Giles Martin got out of those 50-year-old tapes is nothing short of astonishing. Not to mention, when selecting all of the bonus tracks for the deluxe editions, it seems like they went out of their way to include lots of stuff that hasn't already come out on bootlegs. If Def Leppard are doing their homework, they would do well to fill this set with stuff that isn't already on that 6-CD bootleg called Rare Gems.

I went to see Def Leppard the other night...

TESLA: Excellent as always, easily the best live act of their era with the most consistent catalogue.

POISON: Fun, great to see CC again, that guy rules.

DEF LEPPARD: Underwhelming to say the least. I wouldn't give these guys another dime after sitting through that.

as much the albums of '87 ruled my youth, i don't think this has enough extras for me to shell out for it again ... a fourth time. the 20th anniversary edition is all represented, and i have bootleg copies of most of the other stuff already. kinda bummed.

"TESLA: Excellent as always, easily the best live act of their era with the most consistent catalogue of their era." ...

Hahaha!!!, Mike! Puleez, gimme a break ...

TESLUG: Boring as always, easily the worst live act of their era with the most mediocre catalogue of their era."

On the other hand, Def Leppard AND Poison could easily live up to your original description, Def Leppard in particular.

Meh, not interested in 400 different rereleases, I already have a copy. I am really excited to see them with Poison since Poison is back and sounds great, and Lepp sounds great live too, should be a fun time.
Sorry Metalboy! Tesla has a ton of good songs and they still kick ass!!!!

TESLA remain the best live act of their era, throwing it down live on stage with NO MACHINES! A great lead singer whose voice has not waned a bit, plus the killer backup vocals courtesy Frank Hannon; two stellar lead guitar players, and an incredibly tight rhythm section... Not to mention their incredible catalogue and consistency in releasing great music over 30 years.

Interesting they're all doing it now U2, Beatles, Jethro Tull, Alan Parsons Tales Of Mystery & Imagination and due in October their Eye In The Sky no doubt a super deluxe edition, and now one of my fave rock albums from the 80's a 7disc box set of Hysteria! A band that prides itself on huge sounds and massive production, i am very surprised that there are no "visuals" when they recorded In Your Round In Your Face could they have included a dvd or bluray of the concert & have it in 5.1 surround sound hmm oh well
