The Grammy Awards were last night.
Mastodon won for best metal performance for "Sultan's Curse" from the 2017 album Emperor Of Sand.
The Foo Fighters won for Best Rock Song for their track "Run" from the album Concrete and Gold.

But expecting anything more than an occasional nod to the bands "we" (whoever we are and whichever we like) enjoy is like arguing with an actuary table. It might feel good. But it ain't going to move the probability needle.
What next? Sobbing that the RaRHoF can't get it right?!?! Oh wait . . .
As far as Rock & Roll goes, this was a total nerdfest...
Foo Fighters and Mastadon are SO f*cking boring.
It s*cks that bands like L.A. Guns and their younger U.S. and Swedish offspring are overlooked year after year ...
One can only pray SOMETHING will get the show Rocking again ... Let’s hope Metallica and GaGa wasn’t our last shot at Rockin’ Out The Grammy’s, especially since that was botched.
Not only do they refuse to air the Metal and Rock awards they refuse to air most awards given to actual musicians and they show lack of respect to different kinds of genres. I haven't watched in a few years, but I can garuntee that the televised broadcast still caters to a dead pop radio format and what is considered pop. The same catchy, simple, overproduced, autotuned, song that takes 15 different people to repeat from the previous year wins category after category. Not only do they need more metal and rock categories that should be televised, they need to recognize the REAL Jazz, blues, indie, country, hip hop, singer/songwriter, folk, any genre that comes from a real place that isn't overexposed and overproduced to modern pop standards. They need people voting on the impact the music has made and the pure quality of it as well. Maybe if the Grammys would showcase, respect, and promote the REAL music that comes out then maybe the masses can find a whole new respect for music that we haven't seen in a long time. Rather than just promote and buy into what is trending.
