Great Cause, Funny Photo

Bret Michaels of Poison is a big advocate for diabetes research. Bret's battled the disease his entire life, so he comes by it honestly.

It's humorous to me how Bret looks in this photo next to all the researchers. An odd PhotoShop job but great cause. Rock Stars of Science is aimed at promoting science to kids. He's been involved with the group since at least 2010.

That photo doesn't look natural at all hahah. In all seriousness though, as much flack as Bret gets I do give him credit for being closely involved and actually caring about the cause. Most celebrities (especially the ones on a very high level) put their name in front of a charity or casually mention the cause without much care to the cause they say they say they care about. Whether they adopt a hundred kids and pawn them off or mention homelessness at the Grammys and proceeding to not do a thing about it. Those celebrities do it as a popularity contest.

I did two years of research at a lab studying pancreatic organogenesis in fetal mice. It's an incredibly complex organ, and surprising that it doesn't fall more often. Our goal was to try to drive more insulin production from the native or transplanted organ. Fascinating stuff.

Just so long as they keep Michaels out of the operating room!

You can goof on the guy, but not on his dedication to a great cause.

And fascinating aside, oper8n.
