David Lee Roth Says No More Van Halen

Diamond David Lee Roth made some news yesterday - and said that Van Halen is essentially done. I have to say, I think he is probably right. Now we all know Roth likes to preen and brag for reporters but this seems different. He didn't really say anything positive or negative toward the Van Halen brothers - just that he has basically inherited the band. In a way that is true. He shares custody with Sammy Hagar, since both men do their respective Van Halen songs while performing solo. Perhaps we'll hear from the brothers Van Halen soon. Or not.

Just leave the VH brand alone. All of these old bands out there just touring on straight nostalgia and never releasing any new material, all need to give it up. There is no way anyone can make me believe that any of these guys from these legendary bands, are out there still needing money. Have some damn pride and go out while ur still on top!!!

I gotta think EVH makes more in a year with his brand of guitars, amps, pedals, etc., than he would going through the touring grind, regardless of how lucrative it is for them. Unless you’re going to bring Mike Anthony back and do one more go-round as the classic VH, put it in storage and cash residual and endorsements checks.

If VH wants to hang it up, they should do whatever they want, especially if they just aren’t feeling it. But man, is there a less fan-friendly band than them? No communication with fans, no remasters, no archive releases (as in live shows from the 70s/early 80s), no unreleased songs...nothing. They don’t even have to do that stuff themselves, just hand the reigns over to Wolf and let him go to town.

One can always hold our hope as long as all three are alive and functioning.

Isn’t Roth getting ready to tour solo? If that’s the case, maybe, just maybe, this is just a ploy to sell more tickets for his upcoming solo tour.

MB,

I agree there’s always hope they will change their mind and tour again.

But it’s pretty clear there’s nothing in the works and there may never be. DLR also stated that VH tour plans have been cancelled multiple times. And DLR in the past, including interviews as recent as six months ago, was saying that VH would tour again. DLR has changed his tune.

So maybe some day they tour again, but for the foreseeable future, there will be no VH. And I’m ok with that. I just wish they would work on releasing live, rare, or remastered material (or hand it off to Someone who will do it). There is a ton of that stuff lying around. Do something nice for the fans

Indeed, Basileus ... Imagine a ginormous “Van Halen Vault” box set to end all box sets loaded with all the candy of rarities of which you speak plus a DVD set of shows through the years they must have on file similar to Led Zeppelin’s “DVD”. They could call it “DVH”!

Had predicted they were done. Only the future will tell if that's the case. If they're done, I'm glad they did it on their own terms. Glad there was no 6 year "farewell tour" visiting the same continents over and over again playing the same songs. In a perfect world (for Steverox), we would have had one final "David and Sammy" show at a big arena or stadium, each playing a full set with intermission. Michael Anthony would have been back on bass, and Wolfgang and even Cherone (the horror!) would have made guest appearances. And then that would have been it.

Great band in their prime but they jumped the shark long ago, like right when Cherone joined the band. No matter what they do in the future, theyll never embarrass themselves more than they did at that point.

It's over, johnny.

Now, I'd be up for another Sans Halen tour; with Mikey next to Dave this time around. Stop your foolishness. I'd got to 10 shows. Last time, Cath and I went to 4. Even in Albuquerque. Now, that's a story;.
