Kings of Chaos Live Review

On Friday, June 21, 2019, Eric and I saw Kings of Chaos at Fraze Pavilion in Kettering, Ohio. The venue is a small shed that seats about 4,500 or so. The show was not sold out and there was tons of space left on the lawn. The weather has been horrible here lately so I'm sure that didn't help. Yesterday was gorgeous so maybe there was a few walk up sales. I should note it did rain a little during the show.

Tickets were expensive. I paid $180 for my two seats, third row. You know how Metalboy likes to talk about seeing bands "point blank?" Yeah, that was us. So close that Sebastian Bach's hair sweat would spray on us.

The show opened with Dee Snider fronting and the Kings doing "We're Not Gonna Take It." After that opening number, Dee said there was no time for filler, and it was true: all hits. No stage banter b.s. I like that.

Some highlights include seeing Gilby Clarke sing lead on "Knockin' On Heaven's Door," watching Lou Gramm playing the cowbell and being amused at James Lomenzo being so laid back and just taking it all in. Watching Warren DeMartini play his guitar is always a treat. All the RATT songs were great including "Wanted Man," "Lay It Down" and "Round and Round." Warren seemed happy to be playing with guys that seemingly have their acts together.

Sebastian Bach did the Skid Row fast hits and then even more. "18 and Life," "Youth Gone Wild" and the best moment was the John Mellencamp cover of "Jack and Diane." That's something I never expected Bas to sing. It was performed because Kenny Aronoff is the drummer for Kings of Chaos - and he's the drummer for Mellencamp too of course.

The show ended with everyone on stage doing "Paradise City." A fun way to end a nice night. Go see this band if you can! Here's a note about the guy in front of me: he had the coolest Nikki Sixx tattoo down his left forearm. It was Nikki during the Shout at the Devil days. His other arm featured a Volbeat tattoo (insert shrug gif). And the guy a couple seats down was wearing a Faster Pussycat hat. I like it.

Sounds like a good time! Well worth the ticket price. I love it when bands surprise you and play something deep like that!

Sounds incredible! Glad you were “point blank”, haha!!, even if you were showered in Bach’s sweat.

Who knows, maybe that’s the REAL reason the other members of SKID ROW don’t want to get back together with him ... They don’t want his sweat flinging on them while performing!

p.s. Sounds like it Bach singing the RATT tunes. Was it? Just curious, as I bet that would sound awesome!
