Steel Panther will release Heavy Metal Rules in September. The band just dropped a video for a song on that album. You can click the video to see the title. As expected, this is more Steel Panther ridiculousness. This time the gang is in Las Vegas. That should tell you all you need to know about the insanity.

Cool video but its long overdue for these guys to lose the schtick and put out a serious rock n roll cd!!! Their name is out there, many people know who they are so Im sure interest would be HUGE!!

Not sure on the losing the schtick, because that schtick is Steel Panther, Jam Prancer, etc... Could they do a true album without innuendos ? Sure, but that would be tough at this point to increase any amount of interest. What would the concert be like 1/2 clean, 1/2 dirty ?

Saw this yesterday ... loved it. Exactly what you can expect from these guys, and I agree that it has a Hangover feel to it. The song is a good 80's rock song, and will sound good live. Glad to have these guys around.

I doubt they’d be huge. They’re merely a niche “joke” type act. Like funny haha ya know? Throw in some funny boob & vag lyrics, and some guys still eat that junk up. Not my cup o’ tea but I know there’s a crowd for that crap. Green Jelly did it better imho.

Always thought these guys could have cut the difference, and transitioned (haha, not that kind!) over to being a little more clever and between the lines with the lyrics, a la Cheap Trick’s album, “Heaven Tonight”.

There’s no denying, they are excellent writers of music, as Shawn says, “These guys rock ...”

I just don’t find their brand of humor all that funny, however. Alas, they’re not gonna change their schtick. That would require to much work, as it’s a h*lluva lot easier to come up with insipid and crass lyrics than “Surrender”, “Stiff Competition”, “On Top Of The World” or “High Roller”.

H*ll, the writer of those songs, Rick Nielsen, hasn’t been able to do it since. Not even “She’s Tight”, a Cheap Trick song Steel Panther covered, even comes close.
