Saxon Frontman Recovers From Heart Surgery

Biff Byford of Saxon is recovering from triple bypass surgery. I wish him well. Biff shared an update on his social media that he is recovering but will be "tired" for awhile. That is an understatement. He will feel knocked on his butt for weeks - possibly months - but if he follows the doctor's instructions will probably be just fine. Saxon's shows planned for 2019 will be rescheduled for sometime in 2020.

Wishing Biff a quick and speedy recovery - One of the bands still carrying the NWOBHM into the future.

I agree with both of you. One of those bands that, aside from a few missteps, never wavered from the original plan. That might have limited their reach in the States. Luckily, they have been given a bit of a second life over the last few years with consistently strong releases. Biff is one of those legends who is still with us. I wish him a speedy recovery.

If I might add, Tygers are also doing their legacy proud. Granted, their new stuff is nothing like the old stuff. But it doesn't suffer by comparison (unless you are not willing to let a band, or the person who is now leading the band, grow). Case in point: bought their last two releases directly from them (the newest one is not out yet, but the single has been released). You get a nice email from the drummer thanking you for supporting them. I think that is a lovely gesture. Moreover, I think the band sounds great . . . even better than the revitalized Diamond Head sound (and I think they sound good too).
