'Saturday Night Special'

John Corabi has been using his pandemic downtime to work on music and also just have fun with friends. Some of that fun includes recording cover tunes with musicians in scattered locations. I especially like this new cover of Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Saturday Night Special" because it features KIX guitarist Brian Forsythe. Corabi shared this on his official Facebook page yesterday. I wanted to make sure you got to hear this one as well.

Gotta hand it to Corabi by putting it all together, especially featuring our hero, Brian “Damage” Forsythe on lead guitar though that other dude’s no slouch either.
It’s kinda like a remote version of what I witnessed Corabi lord over with Cinderella & Friends (when Keifer fell ill) on a Monster’s of Rock Cruise when he served as ringmaster, MC and de facto bandleader of an all-star cast including Cinderella minus Keifer, of course, Jason McMaster from Dangerous Toys, Jeff Keith of Tesla, Spike from Quireboys, Taime Downe of Faster Pussycat, Paul Lidel of Dirty Looks and Dangerous Toys, Jaime St. James from Black n’ Blue and Jacob Bunton of Lynam ...
I’ve mentioned this show as one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen because they all went out there wingin’ it, in the moment, no rehearsals and they just KILLED it!
Highlights were:
Jeff Keith on “Highway to Hell”, McMaster on “Back in Black” and “You Got Another Thing Comin’”, and Corabi on “All Right Now”, the latter particularly amusing because Corabi later told me he pulled that one out of his a*s, saying he couldn’t believe he remembered the solo.
Anywho, I hope he keeps this project going ... Looks like we’re in for a “Long Cold Winter”, thanks to the Mask deniers (superspreading killers, actually) from the top down, so we’re going to need moments like this — a lot of them, to fill the spaces that were once devoted to concerts, which will hopefully be again sooner rather than later now that Biden will be taking over and a national plan is put into effect.
Obviously, I am a biased fanboy of Corabi (save when he makes odd decisions to do live concerts with audiences during a pandemic . . . ahem . . . see Allyson's post of July 12). Meeting him is still one of my favorite stories, as he was gracious and hilarious! Seeing him do the Crue album live was also a standout moment.
In other news, I miss concerts. At this point, I would probably pay to see Engelbert Humperdinck (and he is doing a live stream show from his house over the holidays for you Dinks out there!!!).
What about a Jizzy Pearl Jam?!?! You know, all the greats, just for one night? If they put out an album, the could call it "Premature Adulation." And, of course, more covers. Perhaps something from The Lovin' Spoonful and 10cc.
Englebert Humperdink and “Dinks”! ... Yer killin’ me, boy!
As FUNNY Gary might say, “LMAO!”
p.s. As you’re a fanboy, HIM, it shoulda meek you not me when Corabi kissed me on the cheek after that show, hahaha!!!, I sh*t thee not! What a freak that dude is!
I told my story before, but I will do it again: standing in a crowded lobby after a concert. A post-party actually. Many of the performers were staying at this hotel, so it was a "really?!?!" kinda' weekend. I was talking about how great his band sounded, and how glad I was to hear him play some of the Crue songs. People nodded. But my friend then asked me: "Well, you should meet him or go say something," as I had noted he was there moments earlier. I replied (a paraphrase, as all of this is): "No way! What the hell would I say to him?!" At that moment, a hand was placed on my shoulder, and a voice said: "You mean, me?" I swiveled, and there he was! Corabi chatted for awhile and took embarrassing photos with me and my friend. It was priceless!
