Farewell Bill Withers

This sucks. The great songwriter and performer Bill Withers has died from heart complications at 81. This news feels extra heavy today.

Sad news indeed. Powerful singer and songwriter. You all know I could care less about the RaRHoF. But he certainly deserved to be recognized. Complicated life too. This Rolling Stone feature is a nice precis of his life:

RIP Mr. Withers.

We have lost some great musicians over the past few weeks: Kenny Rogers, Adam Schlesinger, Joe Diffie, Ellis Marsalis. Thankfully, we still have their music.

Be well, everyone. I hope you make the most of the weekend, even in these trying times.

Sad, indeed! Withers has been on my playlist since I was 11 ...

We also lost Alan Merrill, who wrote and performed with his band, The Arrows, the original “I Love Rock and Roll”, the cover of which by Joan Jett & The Blackhearts shot to number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and stayed at the top of that chart for seven weeks!

Check out his obit here and a great video of The Arrows performing their hit below it:
