Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Live Induction Ceremony Canceled

Covid19 strikes again.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame live induction ceremony has been officially scrapped. A TV special of the revised induction will happen on HBO, airing November 7. The original ceremony was supposed to happen May 2 with a rescheduled date planned. With Covid cases spiking all over the U.S. again, it was inevitable that this event would be canceled. If you had tickets to the event, you will be issued a refund.

The 2020 inductees are Depeche Mode, The Doobie Brothers, Whitney Houston, Nine Inch Nails, The Notorious B.I.G. and T.Rex.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum is back open in Cleveland. The Hall is located in Cuyahoga County, which is currently under a mask mandate because of spiking cases. Ohio has a color-level alert system for the pandemic and Cuyahoga is currently at level 3 (red), which is not good, so consider yourself warned if you want to head out to explore. The Rock Hall is very cool and a must-see venue if you are visiting Ohio.

Depeche Mode doing a version of "Bang a Gong" would be interesting (and Rick Wakeman is still around to tinkle the ivories and Legend could pound the skins). NIN doing a cover of "I Wanna Dance with Somebody" would be unique (with Randy Jackson "I need a job, Mr. Schon" Jackson on bass synth). Not a fan of BIG, but the Isleys could help out and do a sample of themselves on "Big Poppa." Seth MacFarlane could introduce The Doobies with Michael McDonald following him around doing a falsetto to every other word he says, a la Family Guy.

I am trying to be creative here, given that I hate the self-congratulatory snooze fest the RaRHoF represents. That said (and I said it before), I would gladly wear a mask at the museum, as that does capture the spirit of music and has interesting displays.

In the words of AC/DC: "I've been too long, I'm glad to be back." But I have been reading.

Hope everyone is well.

Geezus! ... Where is the Rock in Rock & Roll Hall of Fame?

Okay, so, I grant you, T Rex and The Doobie Brothers are Rock & Roll bands, but I’m talkin’ like Spinal Tap describes ... “Heavy Duty Rock & Roll!” like Def Leppard and their personal Jesus, Ian Hunter doing “All The Young Dudes” last year ...

Somebody get me a Priest!

One Priest comin' up . . . someday. As if it mattered. Hammering home the same complaint does little to sway those at this idiot festival. But you know that, Metalboy! So keep on rockin' in the free world!!!

It’s not complaining, HIM! ... We must continue to advocate for the real Rock & Rollers because when they DO get it right and induct the great bands who really need to move to the front of the line, it creates some truly memorable moments there both in the performances AND speechifying ...
