PJ Farley Announces New Music

Today, Trixter bass player PJ Farley announced some new solo music. A new song and video will be available tomorrow. A tiny snippet of the song sounds promising and catchy and I am definitely looking forward to this! Shout out to our friend Kari for sending me a message about this one!

I know, I know. You all don't see eye-to-eye about politics, and perhaps the best Tex-Mex, or how to turn your backs on the flannel. But I have a sneaking suspicion that more people want to see Trixter (and I am not going to ask how many) than they want to see varied other projects.
Life's too short, fellows. Sure, follow your solo paths. Stick to your guns. But consider my idea. At one point, you could all get together and make music. You can do that now too. And if you don't, well., that is your call and not mine. I would like to think there is room enough in the world for you all to put your grudges behind you, and time enough to remember that you made some music that some people care about.
And . . . if you are the guy holding that sort of reunion up, take a look in the mirror. Ask yourself: is this the sword upon which I want to fall? If so, good on you. But realize you are doing it, accept it, and stop talking about it.
I mean, if Pearcy and Blotz can strategically break bread again . . . isn't that a sign that anything is possible? And, sure, it is about the money. Music is a business. But that strikes me as another reason (albeit not the best one) to do it.
Side-bar:
I place Trixter below Great White in terms of bands I have loved and/or listened to over the course of my metal education. But I place them both in the same category in terms of holding off on reuniting. Russell was (maybe is) a mess. But he has the voice. He has also offered up countless mea culpas (and I am thinking about his responsibility for things both slight and all too tragic). And that is why I find the way the band has acted since he was let go so confusing, disturbing, and, welll, unethical. They treated Ilous like the second coming and then kicked him to the curb like he was Mark Huff (see what I did there?). Kendall strikes me as manipulative and Janus-faced (as recently as this week). He speaks of his sobriety (which is awesome) and wishes Russell well (which _would_ be nice). But he also like a control freak who is disingenuous and out of touch, esp. when speaking about Mr. M/Dental Floss (I mean, Mitch). What point does any of this serve?
Bands like Trixter, Ratt, and Great White have a limited window of time (and it grows smaller every day) to reconnect with fans, to get better-ish gigs, and to perhaps make new music that is worthy of their legacies. As a fan, I would ask them to do that posthaste. Sure, we have the memories of times long since passed. But truly dedicated fans will support you . . . if you act like adults. Yeah. I know. That sounds odd when speaking of metal bands known for years of debauchery and such. But they aren't those bands now. And we aren't those fans either. So a degree of 'live and learn' is expected on all sides of the equation.
If you don't want to act like adults to each other, as I said before, then it is time to stop talking about it. And the whole 'well, they were asked by an interviewer about it' thing is pure nonsense. People smarter than all of them (or me, for that matter) have learned the simple art of 'no comment'. Fans are smart enough to know that they only answer those questions so that they can remain in the news on all the usual sites that still care to talk about their past and only occasionally about their present and future. So what are you doing now? And what do you plan to do next? Simple questions.
PS: Try the hot wings at PJ Farley's. They are awesome. The mojitos? Not so much.
