ICYMI: Riley's L.A. Guns Update

"...Doesn’t mean you won’t see me at some old Honky tonk joint jammin' around, but for now...we’ll have to wait and see what the future holds."

Ok, I was probably living under a rock but I honestly did not know that Limp Bizkit of all bands covered The Who. And not just any cover either - we're talking "Behind Blue Eyes" here. The scary part? I kind of like the cover and think the band did a good job.
Bizkit's version is on their album Results May Vary (2003). So how did I come across this song? Completely randomly, that's how.
I was listening to my Amazon Music and was just shuffling through stations and the song came on. I was like, "What the hell is this?" and looked it up. My guess is Eric had been listening to Nu Metal or something while running and it changed my algorithm. Still, I am grateful for the discovery. Seriously.
Tesla released the album Full Throttle in 2023. The album includes the Aerosmith song “S.O.S. (Too Bad)” from the album Get Your Wings (1975).
Check out that cool Aerosmith shirt near the drum kit! Singer Jeff Keith sounds incredible here in that he matches Steven Tyler’s energy note for note. That is obviously hard to do. Mad respect.

Years ago, Nickelback played the Rock Am Ring festival and covered “Sad But True.” The song works on so many levels, especially since Nickelback were directly catering to their festival audience that day. Rock Am Ring books lots of true metal acts, so Nickelback needed to deliver. If you don’t nod your head along with this cover, you’re dead inside.

Guitarist Orianthi recently performed at the PRS Guitars 40th Anniversary Celebration show – and she brought out fellow guitarist and singer Dany Villarreal of The Warning to join her in a performance of AC/DC’s “Back In Black.” This is a pretty stellar performance and great duo to boot. Women rock!
