'Givin' Yourself Away' - A True Gem

If you asked people for their top RATT songs, I bet “Givin’ Yourself Away” wouldn’t make the list and that is a shame. The song is on the album Detonator which is one of my favorites by the band. Overall the album is slick as hell – just as you would expect for a 1990 hair metal release. The entire album sounds huge!

The guitar solo in this under-appreciated RATT ballad just might be some of Warren DeMartini’s best work. The solo really complements the song and gives it an edge. The overall guitar work is excellent in the song throughout as well.

The guitar melody is deceptively simple. The notes challenge Stephen Pearcy’s voice in just the right way. Pearcy sings higher and DeMartini makes his axe squeal in response. There’s bends, hammer pulls, sweep picking and a vacation up and down the fret board.

The melody and solo could fit right into a Hollywood "rom-com" blockbuster. I said what I said.

If You Like Games - Def Leppard Has One For You

I am not a gamer and haven't really ever been. I had a Nintendo as a kid and Eric had an Xbox at one point. I played Madden a little and got frustrated quickly.

All this to say I am not a good judge if an an electronic game is good or not, but Def Leppard has one called "Let's Rock It" so it might be fun. Presumably it features the songs we love and other throwback references. Could be a fun way to kill an hour.

'Scotch and Sofa' -- New David Lee Roth Song

Happy Saturday!

Diamond David Lee Roth has a new song! It's called "Scotch and Sofa" and is in line with Roth's ironic sense of humor. The song is jazzy and catchy as hell. I don't exactly know what genre of music this is, but it isn't hard rock. I know people will have a problem with this track and evolution of Dave's music, but in my mind he's staying true to himself. DLR has always been an entertainer first and likes to try new things.

'Stadium Rock 80s' Expands, Teases Another Headliner

Stadium Rock 80s will take place August 3 and 4 at Lynn Family Stadium in Louisville, KY. The event has expanded and organizers are teasing another headliner to be announced April 17.

On the poster below, it looks like "Queensryche" to me under the teaser banner. Regardless it seems to be a longish band name if it isn't Queensryche. Bands already confirmed are on the poster below and tickets are on sale now. Looks like a fun party, especially for those around the area. Tickets are $100 each.

FireHouse Plans CJ Snare 'Celebration' Concert

The members of FireHouse will remember vocalist CJ Snare this coming weekend. Snare passed away Friday night after a bout with cancer.

The band will perform in Greeneville, TN at Niswonger Performing Arts Center this Saturday, April 13th. Nate Peck has been filling in for CJ on vocals and will perform this concert as well. Presumably he will continue with the band on vocals going forward. Tickets for Sunday's event are on sale now. Click through the post below to purchase.

'Peace Out!' - Aerosmith Rescheduled Concert Dates

Aerosmith posted revised concert dates on their official website last night - but as of 9:16 A.M. ET, the dates are gone. Some folks made screenshots and posted on socials - Mitch Lafon shared what he captured via his Facebook post (below). According to the apparently leaked dates, the new Cincinnati date (my show!) is October 17. I am going to stay positive and hope someone actually just pushed the revised tour dates live before it was supposed to happen.

The new tour dates start September 20 in Pittsburgh, PA and end February 26 in Buffalo, NY (that will be a cold show!)

I kept my original tickets but I know many folks just went ahead and got refunds. I am curious to see if prices have risen for those that want to rebuy or if they are about the same. Are you going to a rescheduled show?
