People Still Believe This Crap?

So I saw this post on Instagram because Slash reposted it. Freaking insane. Do people still *really* think horror movies and Metal music is... Satanic and/or demonic? (Click the thumbnail to view larger).

Scorpions Release 'Hammersmith' Lyric Video

"Hammersmith" is the newest single from The Scorpions. The band just released a lyric video to promote the track. The Scorps latest album is called Rock Believer and "Hammersmith" is on it - if you buy the UK edition. Perhaps this is a way for The Scorpions to sell more copies of the same album by slicing up track availability by country and forcing fans to rebuy the same record? It's an interesting choice indeed.

Have You Entered The Latest Bret Michaels Contest Yet?

This is a thing.

Bret Michaels is hosting a contest where you dress your pet up like him... and submit the photos. Think red bandanas for sure. Maybe hair extensions? Probably jeans. It is National Pet Month and this is how Bret and his PR team are celebrating. The prize is nice - $500 for you and your pet and $500 donated to your favorite animal charity. The contest closes August 20, so get to snapping those photos! Contest rules and more information.

Sunday's Best: Week 33, 2022

Today's Sunday's Best is all about going down an Internet rabbit-hole.

Last night, as we were waiting for On Patrol: Live to start, Eric was clicking around Philo (which is kind of crappy and the only reason we have it is for Reelz for On Patrol) and he settled on classic music videos. Fine. "I've Been Thinking About You" came on and we agreed it's a good pop song. Neither one of us could remember the band, so we waited to see the artist credits at the end. Answer? Londonbeat.

The song is classic early 90s pop/rock fusion. Just a fun, upbeat track that we both remembered from our childhood days. So Eric flips over to Reelz and that's the end of the conversation. Except I am intrigued by the guitarist in the band, so I start Googling. The guitarist at the time - also featured prominently in the music video - was William Henshall.

I didn't recognize the name but more digging and I learn he left the band to become a software startup guy, creating some innovative solutions in the mid-90s (Rocket Network) that was eventually purchased by Avid and used for ProTools. He also created a startup for neuroscience productivity related to music. He is also CEO of a professional development organization too. Imagine, all this knowledge from hearing a single pop song. I love the Internet. I also can't help but wonder if Henshall will ever record music in a band again?

The Kids Are Alright (Mostly)

Last night, Eric and I went to Paul Brown Stadium, er, Paycor Stadium, to see the Bengals in preseason. We have season tickets now so we were also checking out all the folks around us who we'll be spending the season with and everyone seems great.

There is a family with many children seated one row behind us. The kids are probably in the 8 - 10ish age range. When Bon Jovi came on the stadium loudspeaker, they had no problem loudly singing all the words to "Livin' On A Prayer." (I sang too!) This comforted me. Their parents are teaching them right! Also, thank goodness the pre-season is worthless in the overall NFL standings. #GameWasUgly #NotManyStarters

Aerosmith - Live From Coca-Cola Star Lake Amphitheater

Another Friday, another classic and never-before-seen Aerosmith concert is available on YouTube! This week, we're in the 90s for "Live From Coca-Cola Star Lake Amphitheater, Pittsburgh, PA." The show was recorded in 1993 as part of the Get A Grip tour. Remember - you only have one week to catch these special concerts as part of the band's 50th anniversary celebration.

Tommy Lee Is A Teenager, I Swear

Tommy Lee, a married, middle-aged man, father, and wealthy drummer for a very successful rock band, shared a nude photo of himself on social media overnight. Dude is 59. Fans of Motley Crue are even older. Tommy continues to act like a teenager, so much so, that it is actually shocking to me at this point. Like, how can you just act that crazy for so many years? On a very busy news days, I guess this was one way for Tommy Lee to make himself "trend." Cringeworthy times a million.
