The Most Popular Riff In Rock

Think back to when you learned to play the guitar. You definitely learned "Smoke on the Water," right? Of course you did. Deep Purple performed their classic tune on the Today Show yesterday. I'm so old I remember when the Today Show passed as a real journalism program and covered more than six minutes of actual hard news every day, but I digress.

Sebastian Bach Blows Up (Again)

Picture it: Pittsburgh. Sebastian Bach. Two dead microphones. As you can imagine, Bach threw a hissy fit and stormed off stage. It's comforting to me that some things just never change. (And yes, that was sarcasm!)

Lynch Mob, 'Jelly Roll'

Lynch Mob has a new song out called "Jelly Roll." The song is from the upcoming album Rebel. This song is definitely a solid effort, meaning that Rebel has a ton of potential. What do you think?

You Just Can't Help Some People

Apparently being the drummer of AC/DC isn't awesome or something. I know it must be just brutal, playing for massive crowds and making millions of dollars. Now Phil Rudd is back in trouble with the law, as he breached his home detention. As a result, I'm assuming Chris Slade is going to get a permanent spot in AC/DC now. I could be wrong, but I don't see how Rudd comes back from this.

Megadeth, The Softest Band On The Bill

Megadeth and Lamb Of God will tour the UK this fall. They are bringing Children of Bodom and Sylosis with them on the run. We talk about Megadeth here from time to time, but not the other bands very often. I saw the trailer for this tour and just chuckled, considering Megadeth probably is the softest band of the four. In all seriousness, this is a great metal bill. Would be a fun tour. Fun, that is, if you can navigate the legions of men wearing black hoodies.

Should Legacy Acts Record Anymore?

A recent piece about Aerosmith in Classic Rock Magazine basically lays it all out there when it comes to legacy acts and new music. Guitarist Joe Perry would basically rather just tour instead of fight for months (years?) to put together an album of new material no one will buy anyway. It's a tough position, but at least bands like Aerosmith can make a fortune off touring and don't need to release new songs to have a refreshed income stream. I definitely get Joe's point. I'm in the category of "die hard fan" so I'll always buy new Aerosmith music, but I know I'm a minority in that respect. What do you think?

"I'd rather spend the time on the road than locking ourselves in a room for weeks or months, putting out an album that...
