Eddie Van Halen Sighting

Via Facebook - a recent photo of Eddie Van Halen. You do have to wonder why there are seemingly no photos of the Van Halen brothers swirling around, right? I mean, these guys are rich so surely they go out to eat, hit a gym... something with other people around?

Eddie Trunk recently said Eddie Van Halen was not doing well health-wise. Personally I don't think he looks too bad here. He seems happy. Maybe he is just enjoying his retirement. He earned it.

Kings of Chaos Live Review

On Friday, June 21, 2019, Eric and I saw Kings of Chaos at Fraze Pavilion in Kettering, Ohio. The venue is a small shed that seats about 4,500 or so. The show was not sold out and there was tons of space left on the lawn. The weather has been horrible here lately so I'm sure that didn't help. Yesterday was gorgeous so maybe there was a few walk up sales. I should note it did rain a little during the show.

Tickets were expensive. I paid $180 for my two seats, third row. You know how Metalboy likes to talk about seeing bands "point blank?" Yeah, that was us. So close that Sebastian Bach's hair sweat would spray on us.

The show opened with Dee Snider fronting and the Kings doing "We're Not Gonna Take It." After that opening number, Dee said there was no time for filler, and it was true: all hits. No stage banter b.s. I like that.

Some highlights include seeing Gilby Clarke sing lead on "Knockin' On Heaven's Door," watching Lou Gramm playing the cowbell and being amused at James Lomenzo being so laid back and just taking it all in. Watching Warren DeMartini play his guitar is always a treat. All the RATT songs were great including "Wanted Man," "Lay It Down" and "Round and Round." Warren seemed happy to be playing with guys that seemingly have their acts together.

Sebastian Bach did the Skid Row fast hits and then even more. "18 and Life," "Youth Gone Wild" and the best moment was the John Mellencamp cover of "Jack and Diane." That's something I never expected Bas to sing. It was performed because Kenny Aronoff is the drummer for Kings of Chaos - and he's the drummer for Mellencamp too of course.

The show ended with everyone on stage doing "Paradise City." A fun way to end a nice night. Go see this band if you can! Here's a note about the guy in front of me: he had the coolest Nikki Sixx tattoo down his left forearm. It was Nikki during the Shout at the Devil days. His other arm featured a Volbeat tattoo (insert shrug gif). And the guy a couple seats down was wearing a Faster Pussycat hat. I like it.

Kings of Chaos Tonight!

Tonight Eric and I will see Kings of Chaos at a little venue pretty close to our house. It's Friday, we're supposed to have sun for a change (it has rained every day for the past two weeks) and I took a vacation day. I'm pretty pumped. Third row here we come!

Airplane Mode: Classic Rock

New day, new playlist! Welcome to Thursday friends.

Yesterday while working I stumbled on the Airplane Mode: Classic Rock playlist on Amazon Music. The playlist has songs about flying (or being stoned). Some great tunes are here like "Flying High Again" from Ozzy Osbourne and "Eight Miles High" by the Byrds. There's "Time For Me To Fly" from REO Speedwagon and of course "Free Bird" from Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Some surprises are here too like my beloved Kenny Loggins ("Danger Zone") and Alan Parsons Project ("Eye In The Sky").

All in all, it was a nice playlist to kill time while working - I use these sorts of songs as background noise mostly when I writing or doing spreadsheets. Enjoy!

Never-ending Tour: Guns n' Roses

Guns n' Roses are headed back out on the road for another leg of their "Not In This Lifetime" tour. I am glad I saw the tour right when it opened in Las Vegas... that feels like so many years ago now! If you haven't had a chance to see GnR yet, please make it to one of these dates!

Motley Crue Fires Back At Reelz

Reelz Channel apparently made an unauthorized documentary of Motley Crue, piggybacking off the success of The Dirt. This didn't go over well with Nikki Sixx of Vince Neil. Now Motley is promising legal action. This matter pends.

I'll Believe It When I See It

There's no way Van Halen is making new music with David Lee Roth anytime soon. I just don't see it. Now Diamond Dave likes to talk and we love that about him... but I think he sounds crazy in these quotes. Click below to read the interview. It's just nonsensical to me at this point.
