Skid Row Has (Another) New Singer

Changes today in the Skid Row camp. Singer ZP Theart is out and Erik Gronwall is in. Gronwall was previously the singer for H.E.A.T. and yes, he has a great voice.

Skid Row will release a new album called The Gang's All Here. I guess that title is supposed to be unironic. Just imagine if Sebastian Bach was back in the fold, but it is not meant to be.

Hear a little of the new Skid Row below - the entire song "The Gang's All Here" is out tomorrow. The full album of the same name is due in October.

Aerosmith Announce New Las Vegas Residency Dates

This one came from the "holy shit" file for me this morning. I was not expecting this! Aerosmith announced a new tranche of dates for their "Deuces Are Wild" Las Vegas residency. I had tickets for this back in 2019 but it was just not meant to be. Too many tragedies made the trip impossible. I was going with Eric of course and two friends. One of those friends died unexpectedly and the other had a massive accident, requiring surgery and months of rehab. So I sold the tickets and put the residency out of my mind.

This residency is happening at the Park MGM Dolby Theatre - and is part of Aerosmith's 50th anniversary celebrations. Tickets go on sale March 31.

Who knows if I will be able to make this work. I already have a big vacation on the books for October which will eat both time away from work and a lot of money. Then there is football and marathon season, both of which I have committed dates. That isn't to even begin speaking of ticket costs and the outrageous price of flights now. But we will see. More than anything, I am happy to see Aerosmith announcing live shows again. I was beginning to think they were done forever.

The show dates are:

June 2022: 17, 20, 23, 26, 29
July 2022: 2, 5, 8
September 2022: 14, 17, 20, 23, 26, 29
October 2022: 2, 5
November 2022: 19, 23, 26, 29
December 2022: 2, 5, 8, 11

Conquer Divide - 'Atonement'

It's been awhile since I was really excited after hearing a song for the first time. Today, Octane premiered the latest track by all-female outfit Conquer Divide. Yes, they are metalcore. Longtime readers know I love my metalcore like I love my glam. I was so smitten with the song, I took a picture of my radio display so I could look it up again once I got home. I never mess with my phone while driving, so that is serious business for me.

The song is officially "released" next week but Octane, on SiriusXM, got it early for their Women in Rock celebration - as part of women's history month. Conquer Divide has been around since 2013. The band is on tour now with Attack Attack, another one of my faves. "Atonement" has a spot on my running playlist for sure.

The Cruel Intentions Release 'Reapercussion'

The Cruel Intentions are back with another new song and video. This time, the video is for the track "Reapercussion" from a new album coming sometime this year (hopefully). Lizzy DeVine is the singer of the band. You probably remember he was in Vains of Jenna a long time ago. This new track is heavy with sleazy melodies - just the way Swedish rock should be in 2022.

Sunday's Best: Week 11, 2022

Happy Spring! It's still too cold for my liking here in southern Ohio, but at least it is sunny, so there's that.

In honor of Nikki Sixx appearing on American Idol tonight, I thought we should revisit some of the best rock performances that show has ever produced. That's our Sunday's Best for this week.

Bo Bice - "In A Dream" by Badlands

Adam Lambert - "Mad World" by Tears For Fears

Cade Foehner - "Simple Man" - by Lynyrd Skynyrd

James Durbin - "Heavy Metal" by Sammy Hagar (and featuring Zakk Wylde on guitar)

Chris Daughtry - "Renegade" by Styx

Carrie Underwood - "Alone" - Heart

This is my favorite American Idol performance ever, save for Adam Lambert's "Mad World" above and his version of "A Change Is Gonna Come" (below).

Nikki Sixx To Guest On 'American Idol' Sunday Night

Despite past comments mocking American Idol, Nikki Sixx will be a guest on the show tomorrow night. The judges go to the Sunset Strip to find talent, thus Nikki's appearance. He will perform the bass solo of "Home Sweet Home," one of Motley Crue's most famous tracks.

Here's a preview of the appearance. It sort of sounds like Nikki is playing... at least a little. It is hard to tell with the backing track of the actual song.

Well This Is Ridiculous (Rock Hall, Of Course)

I am so glad it is Friday. Talk about a long, frustrating work week. The work itself is fine. I just had constant battles with technology, day after day. I'm so tired of it, I took the afternoon off, and I am looking forward to resting and going to happy hour with Eric.

So the other day, patron Queen of awesome Dolly Parton bowed out of her Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nomination... for not being a rock artist. Now the Rock Hall says tough, you're still nominated and you're going to like it. So what happens if and when Dolly makes the cut? Does she attend the induction ceremony or refuse again? Would that make her look bad in all this? Insanity.
