News Of The Week Roundup: Week 41, 2021

So I thought, "Oh, this must be some of that fake news." I checked several news sources and it is sadly real: some Rhode Island Subway restaurant employee walked on food, placed cold cuts on a toilet seat and more... to gain social media followers. The guy was fired and $200 deducted from his last paycheck for damages but big deal. He should be prosecuted.

This is just good basic information for everyone. Have some things ready in case of disaster:

This is horrific: a British MP named David Amess was stabbed to death while meeting constituents last week. Apparently, the stabbing was terrorism.

In COVID-19 news... the vaccine is still saving lives. Imagine that!

COVID cases are dropping in the U.S. which is great news! Seems that cases are on the rise again in the UK. Russia is currently facing a bad wave, too.

Former President Bill Clinton was released from the hospital today. He spent much of the week in a California ICU for a sepsis infection. The sepsis came from a UTI.

A U.S. Capitol Police Officer is now charged with obstruction for his role in the deadly insurrection on January 6, 2021. The federal investigation into the attack is now the largest in U.S. history.

And I leave you with this: a recommendation to listen to the Maintenance Phase podcast. I cannot express how much I love this show and the hosts Aubrey Gordon and Michael Hobbes. Smart, fresh and debunking junk wellness science every episode.

Get Well Vince Neil!

No hate or memes, please. Vince Neil took a bad fall off the stage during his performance at Monsters on the Mountain fest in Tennessee last night. He was hospitalized and broke ribs as a result of the fall.

During the performance, Vince tripped and fell about four feet onto cement. Let me tell you, four feet is a decent amount to fall when your body is going to hit cement. I still have pretty regular nightmares about my fall that caused my broken shoulder over the summer. For Vince to break several ribs, he had to hit very hard.

Vince's solo band finished the show for the crowd. Here's the moment of the fall:

The Merkins Become Möstly Crüel For Halloween

The Merkins are kind of YouTube famous for reimagining horror movie icons in unique situations. Now, The Merkins are pretending to be Mötley Crüe, er, Möstly Crüel. In this take on "Girls, Girls, Girls," The Merkins rework the lyrics and the track becomes "Kills, Kills, Kills." It is actually pretty smart and funny.

The masks creep me out, so that works for the Merkins. The costuming and wigs are great. We are getting close to Halloween, folks!

New Crazy Lixx Video 'Rise Above'

My beloved Crazy Lixx just released a new video! They made a clip for the song "Rise Above." The song is from the upcoming album Street Lethal. This is one of the albums I am most excited about - but everyone knows I love my Swedish Glam bands. The guitars in "Rise Above" are freaking amazing. I want to see Crazy Lixx in concert!

Mad Margritt Announce New 'Best Of' CD

Eddie Smith of Mad Margritt sent me this message on Facebook. He's been a reader here over the years. He loves Glam and Mad Margritt carries that torch. The band will release a new album November 19. Here's the note:

We are excited to announce that we will be releasing a new cd on November 19th entitled MAD MARGRITT: BEST OF 1999-2021. The CD is being released on the Perris Records label and will be available to purchase at all major record stores throughout the United States and overseas.

The CD will be a collection of songs from our previous CDs beginning with 1999's IN THE NAME OF ROCK all the way up to our current release LOVE, HATE AND DECEPTION. It will also feature the new song "THIEF IN THE NIGHT" which was recorded this summer along with the song "ROCK THE BLOCK" that we performed earlier this year on the HGTV show Rock The Block. There will also be a song that was recorded in 2005 called "LONELY" which was previously only available for purchase at our shows.

For those of you who prefer digital, the CD will be available to download on all major music streaming services on October 29th. Also happening on October 29th will be the worldwide premiere of our new video for the song "THIEF IN THE NIGHT."

Here's a little teaser video for the compilation album:

About That David Lee Roth Retirement Announcement

David Lee Roth tweeted some artwork about his recent retirement announcement and his last show, but he added a special phrase. Look at the art below. Notice it says "unless it isn't" making it seem highly likely Diamond Dave will perform again live after his official "last show." Stay tuned I suppose.

City of Pasadena Unveils Eddie Van Halen Plaque

A memorial plaque is now on display at the Pasadena Convention Center. The Van Halen brothers lived in Pasadena after migrating with their family from the Netherlands.

Two Pasadena residents raised funds for the plaque through GoFundMe. The mayor dedicated the plaque earlier today.
