Bring Back Glam! Favorite Albums Of 2023

Now that 2023 is officially over and behind us, I wanted to share some of my favorite releases of the past year.

These are in no particular order – just stuff I really enjoyed and kept coming back to, time after time. An asterisk means I bought the vinyl version, too!

  • Conquer Divide, Slow Burn*
  • Dirty Honey, Can’t Find The Brakes
  • Beartooth, The Surface
  • I See Stars, D4MAGE DONE
  • Stray View (Dave Escamilla new project), “What’s Done Is Done” (just a song but I hope the future album is just as good!)
  • Asking Alexandria, Where Do We Go From Here?
  • Steel Panther, On The Prowl
  • Attack Attack! Dark Waves*
  • Winger, Seven
  • Def Leppard with the Royal Philharmonic, Drastic Symphonies *
  • Falling In Reverse, Neon Zombie (well, really the track “Watch The World Burn”)
  • The Rolling Stones, Hackney Diamonds

The video for "Watch The World Burn" has to be the best music clip of the year, by far:

I See Stars, 'are we 3ven?' -- New Song And Video

Wait - I See Stars has another new song?!? They are currently on a sold-out tour with Bad Omens and ERRA.

The new track is called "are we 3ven?" - and it's the third new song from the band in the past few months. These new songs come after a multi-year drought of new music, shows or news. Literally it was radio silence for so long, many of us who love ISS just assumed the band was over.

Sunday's Best: Week 10, 2022

The time change happened overnight and we made it! It's one of my favorite days of the year: a time of renewed hope for longer and warmer days full of sunshine. Spring officially starts next Sunday and we've got St. Patrick's Day this week, too!

To me, it's time for happy or inspiring metal songs - and that's our Sunday's Best for this week. Some of my choices are below:

Ozzy Osbourne - Flying High Again
Saxon - Denim and Leather
Poison - Nothin' But A Good Time
Steel Panther - Party All Day
Judas Priest - Living After Midnight
I See Stars - Electric Forest
RATT - Best Of Me
Dio - Stand Up And Shout

Also I suppose we could just listen to any power metal and call it a day. (I kid, sort of). What are some of your go-to uplifting tracks?
