Motley Crue Will Do a Las Vegas Residency

Kids, the rumors were true! Last night on CNN, Piers Morgan announced that Motley Crue will do a residency at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. The residency starts February 3rd and lasts three weeks. Tickets go on sale this Saturday via Ticketmaster. Pre-sale tickets are already available by using the code "SIN13."

Tonight Piers Morgan will feature the guys in Motley Crue for a special hour-long interview.

I won't be traveling to Vegas to see the residency. It's too expensive and I still think the idea is a little insane, but I bet the show will be over-the-top awesome like always. So, will you be flying to Sin City for a little Motley fun this February?

I'll go! I actually think the whole thing makes a lot of sense. As my Dad used to say (RIP), these guys, especially Mars, "ain't no spring chickens any more" and parking their act in Vegas will enable them to play with a lot less fatigue than the exhaustion that typically can occur with touring.

The fact that Neil has been based there for so long and it's relative proximity to L.A., makes Vegas the ideal spot for these characters to hang out for awhile.

Plus, ya gotta wonder if the history of Rock'n'Roll residencies may have lent Creedence to the notion of such a commitment. Many, starting with Elvis and, more recently, Santana and Cheap Trick, have been holed up in Vegas for months on end. Plus ya gotta wonder, too, if Steel Panther's successful gigs there may have also contributed to Crue's well calculated move.

The Crüe residency will last for 3 weeks. Neil said in a clip from the forthcoming Morgan interview that Crüe is the first Rock & Roll band to play such a residency is inaccurate. Cheap Trick has done at least 2 such residencies in Vegas, each lasting a month.

Trick's show consists of their flawless performance of the entire Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band album from beginning to end, accompanied by a 23 piece orchestra. It's interesting to note Neil's claim, particularly when you consider Crue's self-professed idolization of Cheap Trick and the fact that he covered the Cheap Trick classic, "He's A Whore" on his last album, performs the song live, let alone that he lives in Vegas. Did he not notice they were in residence there? Huh-uh-lo-oh, Vince!

Of course Motley Crue will claim to be the first at whatever trend they follow. Are they doing the same show for 3 weeks, or doing something special ? Can I request they play all of the self titled album ?

if in vegas, sure why not. Vegas is all about the cheese and nostalgia. Perfect fit for the 40 something overweight housewife who knows 3 songs and is in town.
much rather pay $20 drive 30 minutes and see Kix, La Guns (phils) or Armored Saint. 3 great shows from 2011 that costs less than motleys "vegas" act.

There is more out there peeps

It makes sense the generation that fell in love with Motley Crue is the generation that now visits Las Vegas. I should know I am one. I just read the dirt (I know well over due) and based on the re-occuring theme in the book that none of these guys can hang onto money and based on the fact that they appear to have no desire to create new music together this will be an avenue for them to have some security....

Now if they would just capitalize on this opportunity and do something special with it as suggested by others ..Play an entire album.. mix up the set lists.. bring in special guests.. Keep Vince sober and make him exercise so he can sing all the words.. etc..

They could really make this a success. I would love to go. I had forotten what Motley Crue was and meant to me until I read the dirt and it all came back like a strike of lightning these guys were the baddest mfers in the world..

anyway I wish them the best of luck.......

That brings up a good point... What are the Vegas odds on Vince singing more than every 3rd or 4th word?

4 to 1 ? 3 to 1?

My guess is, the line on Vince sucking is just about even money.

Love the odds making, Ace, but I gotta say, when I saw 'em at Outlaw Jam, Vince sang about 92% of the words! And he sang them well, too !

Won't be there. I personally think it's really bad timing for them to expect fans to fork out that much cash right before Christmas in this economy. It's ok for someone with no life or family but a good portion of their fans are around their age and have families and responsibilities. I was really hoping a tour with Sixx: A.M. with the both of them saying they have major announcements. Maybe next time.
