Slow glam day? :)
Instead of this "growlfest", how about the new Judas Priest snippets released?

My idol Rob H has changed his style a bit. Understandable considering it's 2014 & he is up there in age.

The great surprise is the guitar work between Tipton & Faulkner!

Pretty good stuff!

The only aftershock I was left with was a bad taste in my mouth, what a hideous line-up.

Its the Monster Energy Drink Fest, what did you expect ? Honestly, not a bad line up to drink some hopped up beverages and rock out.

Headliners, bigger names aren't that bad at all.

There's soon cool bands there. A lot of stupid stuff though. But regardless, there's a handful of kickass rock and metal.

Kixchix. Faulkner fell into KK's spot quite nicely if you ask me. Guy can flat out crush it.All things are pointing to a smoking hot batch of material from what I've heard so far. Can't wait for July to hear the entire release.\m/

The two new Priest songs that have been released sound amazing. They have not missed a beat without KK. Can't wait to get the rest of the album. As fsr as the bill, the only decent bands on there worth seeing in my opinion are BLS, Black Stone Cherry (new CD is amazing BTW), and Godsmack.

p.s. Thanks for putting me onto the new Priest, guys. Will check it out.

I went to day one last year and enjoyed myself immensely. I went primarily to see Testament and Megadeth. But I found some of the newer bands interesting and some beyond annoying (but that is just me). Oh, and Steel Panther played a free pre-show the night before at a local club before opening the show the following day.

The great thing about this venue is the VIP section: shaded seating (which is good for this time of year in Sac), lots of Portos, flat screen TVs(!!!) mounted for viewing, and area-specific/VIP-only food vendors. You only really have a view from the left side of the main stage(s) . . . two right next to each other, but access to the GA area is quite easy.

Speaking of which, the layout of the rest of the area was also well thought out, with ample food and drink areas along with lots of interesting merch booths. Not sure how they will manage the addition of a new stage (the third stage was way in the back last year), though there is surely room for one back towards the area by the overpass.

As with any festival of this sort (meaning: a branded one, and what ones aren't these days?), it always feels like the one great line-up you want to see is spread over two days, so you are stuck (or lucky) seeing a bunch of bands you didn't want to see.

That said, again, I saw some bands I had never heard of last year . . . and enjoyed them. I suppose that is what the festival experience is all about.

Sounds nice, HIM, but I want the $$$ spent on the stage, not on the accoutrements and swag of the VIP section in front of it.

Needed one killer. This line-up is pure B-Team, save for maybe Buck Cherry and Zombie though half of his sh*t is all Doberman impressions and carnival barking.

Oh, AND Offspring, who I like way better than the two I mentioned above.

Those clowns are all Metal underneath the Surfer shorts and Vans.

You made me laugh, Metalboy! Zombie is a fun one or two trick pony. Always enjoy his shows. Have to ask: what is your take on Bad Religion? Or Mastodon?

The stages--at least the two main ones side-by-side--are great (good sound for an outdoor venue and large hi-def screens that especially pop when it gets dark). Like I said,, the VIP section is on the left side, which I found nice, since it keeps the whole area in front of both stages open to GA.

Re: VIP, it is worth it and reasonably priced. During late summer in Sac, having a shaded area off to the side (though there are spots of shade throughout the park) is almost essential. And having Portos that haven't served 1,000 other people with questionable aim and poor diets, in that same weather, is a perk I also appreciated.
