From my inbox. I wanted to share this because addiction is a crisis in America right now. Props to Nikki Sixx using his platform to bring awareness to the devastation of addiction.
As part of International Overdose Awareness Day, August 31, Premiere Networks host and global rock icon Nikki Sixx will dedicate four hours of Sixx Sense with Nikki Sixx - America’s #1 syndicated Rock radio show – to raise awareness of the U.S. opioid crisis. Sixx, who detailed his near-fatal drug addiction in the best-selling book The Heroin Diaries, will welcome the following guests for an in-depth discussion about what can be done to alleviate the massive suffering and loss happening across the country due to heroin and opioid addiction and overdoses:
- Dr. Oz, accredited health expert, best-selling author, world-renowned cardiac surgeon and host of the eight-time Daytime Emmy® Award-winning syndicated program “The Dr. Oz Show”
- Beth Warren, award-winning investigative journalist from the Louisville Courier-Journal, who is helping chronicle the drug crisis gripping the region
- Erik Gunn, a former drug addict and dealer who recently shared his story with Warren for a Courier-Journal series on addiction and recovery

I guess my point is subtle: coming out in support of raising awareness about addiction doesn't give you a free pass, or absolve you of your other deeds.
But good for IOAD. Seriously.
OD'ing on Sixx's OD is one thing.
I will endure it for the fact that he's bringing so much attention to this idiotic epidemic that's slowly but surely eating our country alive!
But I cannot tolerate him giving that quack Oz a platform to continue spouting his B.S. I bet he'll be wingin' it on this topic, as well!
