I have seen several iterations of this version of the band, including being lucky enough to see them with the incredible Billy Powell. And they always delivered a high energy nostalgic romp. It never felt, at least to me, that they were doing an injustice to the original band. If anything, they always made sure to spell out just how indebted they were to the original band and how they were trying to honor the spirit of the same. But, again, I get your point: it was a tribute.
So, while I always enjoyed seeing them as part of some summer package tour, I won't mourn their loss. That is saved for the original players that I was too young ever to get a chance to see.
And you have a point: nothing will ever compare to the original. So I agree with that too.
