'The Dirt' Is Really Happening (Finally!)

Nikki Sixx put a short update on Motley Crue's Facebook page yesterday. The filming of The Dirt is beginning and all the members of the Crue are involved. I'm so ready to see this movie on the big screen. Right next to The Big Short and Liars Poker (both by Michael Lewis) and Middlesex (Jeffrey Eugenides), The Dirt ranks right up there as one of my favorite books.

Looking forward to it as well!

Hope it is LOUD, DIRTY, SLEAZY and reeks of the Sunset Strip in 1984!

Not to rehash an old post about this very topic, but . . . be careful what you wish for.

Not sure how well Tony Cavalero will do as the Prince of Darkness (if that turns out to be the case). Nor am I sure that this thing being shuffled from Focus to Paramount to Netflix is a good sign either. While Netflix has picked up and produced some gems, it has also turned into a "go to" place for failed/troubled/doomed projects no one else wants to touch.

I know The Dirt is a cherished part of a lot of people's lives, at least in terms of telling/selling a story of rock n' roll debauchery. The move from text to screen, though, is always a complicated one. In this instance, more the same.

Interesting choices for the cast and crew, I've been waiting for them to start this movie and hope it turns out well. Netflix films and shows are usually either very creative and great or done half heartedly and suffer, same with music based films. Maybe I'm biased about The Dirt being one of my favorite books because I'm a huge Crue fan, but with the book being so crazy and detailed I hope it can translate to the big screen and with Netflix I think they can do that, if it's given enough time and work.

As highlighted above, the key is will it feel like a theatrical release or “made for TV”?

If it’s ever got a chance to not feel like the latter, it’s with NETFLIX.

Either way, it should be very entertaining, regardless.
