Rocklahoma Band Splits Announced

Rocklahoma just announced the daily lineups for the festival at the end of May. The lineup is pretty darn good... but still not strong enough for me to travel to Oklahoma again for the show. I actually don't know anyone who is going to Rocklahoma this year, which is a first for me.

I'm not bitching, just generally curious. With the state of rock / metal in the USA, how are people discovering new bands, and how are promoters deciding who fills these types of bills?
Back to the lineup - from the bands that are known, it's a mixed bag for me, as many of these festivals are. I am astonished that STP would be billed so high, considering their singer situation but also that they were really never an A list band even in the dreary 90s.
If I were to go see this fest, it would be for the following (in order listed on the poster):
The Cult
Sevendust
The Used
Trivium
Ghost
Clutch
Pop Evil
Diamond Head
Powerman 5000
Poison
Cheap Trick
Halestorm
Tom Kiefer
Lynch Mob
The Cult
Lynch Mob (why Oni, why..ugh)
Halestorm
Cheap Trick
and that's about it...
If I could add 4 more names, I'd bring in:
Firehouse
Living Colour
King's X
Extreme
Saturday: Ghost, Diamond Head
Sunday: Poison, Cheap Trick, Andrew W. K., Lynch Mob
In other words and those of my Father, “It seems like an awfully long way to go for a drink!”
At this point, and it was to be expected with the infusion of corporate money/management that took place a few years back, this could be called "Oklahoma Rebellion" or "Oklahomashock." It isn't a stand alone concert anymore. It is part of a tour that travels the country each summer in the guise of being individual festivals.
I agree with Metalboy!'s last comment, this is one solid day of artists spread out over two additional days. Love me some Cult, and Ghost, and Cheap Trick . . . but then it thins out quicker than the hair on my scalp.
You should make sure to do a write-up afterwards. I always love to hear how people enjoy the festival experience.
