Sweet Oblivion, 'Hide Away'

The new Sweet Oblivion featuring Geoff Tate song "Hide Away" is really good. The song is from the upcoming debut album Sweet Oblivion. There's a lot of Queensryche in here - and that's okay. This is what Geoff should be doing: straight up prog rock. He's built for it. I love the guitar work starting around 3:15 too!
The album features Simone Mularoni on guitar and he also produced the album. That name stuck out at me - and then it hit me: I reviewed his band EmpYrios a lifetime ago for Metal Express Radio.
I'm excited for this new project and I wish both Geoff and Simone well.

it's good to hear Geoff back in good singing form. but I did notice one thing... if Rob Halford needs a night off or a body double..... :)
Tate does sound quite good but do you think that’s because they punched in his vocals? I actually saw him perform at M3 with Queensryche several years ago when RATT reunited with Juan Croucier for the first time in 19 years. Tate’s voice seemed totally shot but maybe it was the stress of the impending break-up of the band.
Though I like the other two cuts, “True Colors” and the title track, way better than “Hide Away”, gotta say if all three are any indication, this should be quite a formidable return to the stage for Tate.
And even though hearing some of this stuff plus the usual Queensryche fare, I still think I’d rather hop in the Vanagon or whatever the h*ll it is and have him cruise us all around Rome or somewhere, instead.
