'For Whom The Bell Tolls' - Metallica and San Francisco Symphony

Metallica will release S&M2 on Friday. In advance of that release, the band has dropped another video from the package. This time it is "For Whom The Bell Tolls" and it is majestic. I watched in awe the first time I pressed play on this new clip. I cannot wait to get this package and watch the entire remastered film this weekend!

Pre-order 'S&M2 (Deluxe Box)(4LP)(2CD)(1 Blu-ray)' and support BBG!

Gave me chills, one of my favorite Metallica songs. James looks healthy and happy as do the others - haven't been a big fan of Symphony stuff but I like it and would like to watch the entire show.

Metallica has some of the best management in the business, A album cut from one of their worst selling releases (All Within My Hands / St Anger) is now a #1 single at rock radio, and another album cut of their last record (Moth Into Flame) was the theme to a big wrestling PPV this weekend. They have a great way of harvesting their catalog. I must have watched 16 of the 22 Metallica Monday's live sets they released over the last 5 months. The shut down did nothing to stop the machine. Not to mention the Drive In sets coming up. Great management.

I just don't get it. A symphony version of this same song was done on S&M #1. I just do not get the rewatch or relisten value for this. This isn't impressive, it's just a repeat. And this coming from someone that has every Metallica album and seen them live a few times.

The song stands on it's own just for the Blick'em Blick'em Boom part of the drums.

Impressive is this song live when you are sweating and out of breath in the pit watching your buddy air drum. Impressive is when an orchestra just breaks into a song like this and it's like elevator music on crack without James there to sing it for them.

Crap hit the submit button too quick... SparkyDR99 comment on "All Within My Hands" is spot on because they remade and revisioned the song for this S&M, something different, stands out. Impresses fans, impresses music lovers. Song completely sucked on the St Anger album.

I couldn’t agree more with GNR ...

These guys retread more than your local Firestone dealer!

Why not make a new album with Bob Rock and create a “making of” rockumentary out of it ...

Oh, wait! ... They already did that with “Some Kind of Monster”!

Seriously, though, If they put out a new album that was TOTALLY fresh and different, really breakthrough AND did an even cooler documentary than “Monster” (without all the confrontation) showing how they worked remotely from home, call it “Remote” or something, they would be releasing music and video that might possibly be considered relatable and relevant ...

It could potentially be a document that would actually help us cope with the new “stay at home” paradigm besieging us.

Just because it's not posted publicly, doesn't mean it's not happening behind the scenes. You can't fault me for delighting in a bit of karma.

For someone who always promoted honesty, accountability, and confrontation, you failed miserably. A simple, "Listen fletch, I'm not you sounding board. Back off", would have worked.

Flight of the 'Tallica Bee?!?!

What originally made this song so slamming was that it was, well, just them making a beautiful noise. This sounds like Testament was run over by someone making the theme song for a James Bond film, albeit without the shrieking vocals. Glad James is back in good health though.

Sometimes you can't improve on your own legacy by asking people to pay a ****-ton of money to sit in the tomb that is the Chase Center. Especially after you already asked them to listen you years ago doing your "Hooked on Classics" thing. One starts to wonder what it means to be creative and free to do what you want when this is what you want to do.

What's the point?
