'The Stadium Tour' Postponed Until 2022

The title says it all. The Stadium Tour, featuring Motley Crue, Def Leppard, Poison and Joan Jett and the Blackhearts will not happen until next summer. If you still have tickets, they will be valid for the new show date.

Honestly, I am glad I took a refund when it was offered last summer. There is a lot of anger from folks who are holding tickets and would prefer money back at this point. That is why I refuse to buy expensive concert tickets a year in advance going forward. I'm not loaning my money interest free to Ticketmaster.

I figured this would happen although it is unfortunate. I’ve heard a rumor they may be trying to find a replacement for Joan Jett, someone that would help sell more tickets, so I’m hoping that turns out to be true. Whenever it happens I’m there though!

This was expected if you've been paying attention ... both Nikki and Vince dropped hints.

I understand it, next year will be a much better environment for a tour like this, although damn, all the musicians will be another 2 years older. Catch them while you can.

For me personally this is a godsend because I really want to go but relocated to Europe late last year and this summer would have likely been out of the question given the extreme slow pace of vaccinations here and there is still a travel ban in place between USA and Europe. So now I can start to actually make plans for a date next year, woohoo!

This will not happen until every state on the tour has lifted every restriction. There’s no way Live Nation could possibly turn a profit after paying out what they did to put these bands all together. I don’t give a rats ass how they spin this, but It has zero to do with “fans safety” and everything to do with “the bottom line”, much like everything else in life.

I totally see Gary's point. But I also think this was the smart thing to do, all things considered (and that means considering what Gary said!). And steverox brings up a good point: for some people, this is a destination sorta' tour. So if you aren't in a place that is in a 'good place' quite yet, it would really suck not to be able to go. And Allyson's point is well-taken: holding onto a ticket this past year was a fool's bet. You are basically giving MegaMegaCorp. money to spend on limousines and lollipops!

Bkallday, I know you bag on Joan and all (and I bag on you bagging on Joan and all). So let me just ask a hypothetical: how about Doro? She rocks, right?

Eh who cares. It’s amateur hour with 45,000 folks who know 4 songs from each band. Would rather see the bands in a shed with 14,000. Passive fans are there as well. But the view and atmosphere is much better.

Doro is still hot, I’ll give her that Him. Lol. And yeah I guess she still rocks but I wouldn’t want her as an opener for this tour. & I love plenty of female fronted bands so that has nothing to do with it(ie In This Moment, Halestorm, Nervosa) either. I just would prefer someone that had more than 3-4 relevant songs in their catalog, that’s all.

Kixchix, I love the world-weary tone of your latest post. Seriously! You point to something essential, at least for me: EnormoDome concerts rarely, if ever, make me happy. If I had the scratch to get a front row seat I would still probably be miffed. Rock on, Kixchix!

Bkallday, thanks for the reply. I certainly see your POV. And Doro was, and is, a great ambassador for metal around the globe. Some of her recent stuff is a bit cloying. But she seems to have the right attitude. I was just curious about your take on her. And you are certainly right: there are a lot of great female-fronted acts out there these days. I really enjoy Thundermother. But, if there is a nostalgia trip going on (and this tour is, by any useful definition, a nostalgia trip), I would actually pull out an act from the past who is still creating great music . . . in her 70s! That would be Suzi Quatro. Her latest album, The Devil in Me, is great (there is, to be fair, one clunker on the disc). But it is nice to hear a throwback artist still doing what they love and doing it well (and it is cool that her son played a role in this record getting made).

Trying to convince my wife that tickets with a meet n greet (so we could get up front) would be great 50th birthday gifts. The kids overheard and also want to go. They'll be 18, 14, and 12, and they all know more than four songs except for Joan Jett.
