May 2021 New Music Playlist

Happy Memorial Day! Another month in the books and the unofficial start to summer here in America.
This month we have few new heavy songs to discover, my favorite being "Envy" from Twiztid featuring Spencer Charnas of Ice Nine Kills. I really enjoy Ice Nine Kills, especially their album The Silver Scream so I am happy for any new music that features any member of the band.
Another top notch track to discover is "Standing on the Edge" from Robin McAuley's new album of the same name. Such a strong effort and great guitar solos too. New music from The Devil Wears Prada and Pop Evil round out this month's selections. Yes, I do love me some metalcore. I hope you enjoy this playlist!

Not going to get any questions from me when it comes to Mr. Robin McAuley. Guy is a solid singer and seems like a genuine class act. More please. My only wish--pipe dream really--is that he could get himself on a major label and get out from under the spinning wheel of super-groups that is Frontiers. Yes, they do serve a purpose. And, yes, they are giving us a chance to hear new music from a great artists (other artists as well). But the whole thing feels dodgy as hell. And I suppose that speaks to the need to create a business model that is constantly repackaging artists and releasing albums that then get little to no real promotion in terms that extend beyond the release and the videos (which are now cheaper to make than ever). Then again, I can also hear myself as I type and want to yell: "This isn't 1986 anymore. Wise up!!"
I have to admit, the rest of those bands are, well, not what I have heard before. I guess that places me firmly outside the metalcore fold. Hell, I thought Djent was an illiterate person talking about the results of a car crash. Again, what do I know?
