The Merkins Become Möstly Crüel For Halloween

The Merkins are kind of YouTube famous for reimagining horror movie icons in unique situations. Now, The Merkins are pretending to be Mötley Crüe, er, Möstly Crüel. In this take on "Girls, Girls, Girls," The Merkins rework the lyrics and the track becomes "Kills, Kills, Kills." It is actually pretty smart and funny.

The masks creep me out, so that works for the Merkins. The costuming and wigs are great. We are getting close to Halloween, folks!

So Now You Can Get A Nikki Sixx Mugshot Tee

Do you need this? No. Do you want it? Maybe. Nikki Sixx is selling items featuring his mugshot including T-shirts and mugs. This is part of his Sixx on Sixx drop collection. I'm personally gonna hard pass on this one. Mugshots are trashy and I don't need to be see around town wearing one. Of course, Nikki realizes this isn't classy in the Tweet below. I think that makes it more rock n' roll to him. I will file this one under #YouDoYou

Vince Neil Uses Emsculpt Neo To Shed Pounds

Vince Neil is apparently trying to slim down ahead of next summer's "The Stadium Tour" featuring Motley Crue. He's using some device called the Emsculpt Neo which is a toning machine for the stomach. It has something to do with energy waves and tissue building.

I think it is great that Vince wants to get back into shape. We all should want to stay in shape - or get there! But really, it's all CICO. That's calories in, calories out. No human can beat thermodynamics. Eat less and move around more. You don't need to kill yourself with crazy gimmicks or really hard workouts either. Daily walking will help you slim down - just keep your calories in check.

Most folks who have been coming here a long time know I like to run and exercise in general. After my accident and bad shoulder break in June, I had to stop running and began brisk walking to maintain some fitness. I can run again now, but I still do regular walks too. Brisk walking - especially up hills - can be a really good workout and helps build stamina. The walking has helped eased me back into running while I waited for my arm to stop throbbing from the swinging motion.

Lifting weights can really help you drop pounds faster too - again, if your calories are in check. I cannot lift weights yet, but hopefully I will be cleared to do so soon. All this to say, I have not gained any weight as a result of my accident. I try to keep my diet in check, but Glam knows I eat my share of treats, and I try to move with purpose every day. So I hope Vince gets the results he wants and people will stop mocking him for his appearance. It seems he is at least trying!

Life is Craise

tommyland.jpgNow to the promised review of Tommyland, the bestselling autobiography of our friend and Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee.

Not nearly as good or thorough as The Dirt, Tommyland has a unique voice that gives readers insight into the mental meanderings of Lee's lifestyle, habits and attitudes. While some stories in Tommyland overlap with those in The Dirt, most accounts are of Tommy's time in jail, his sexual exploits, kids,  and his passion for music. In fact, a lot of time is simply devoted to music. Tommy invents new words to express how he feels about a certain subject. I don't know if this is born of creativity or a lack of proper vocabulary, but it makes the book interesting in its own way (read Tommyland, and you'll understand the title of this blog entry).

A big drawback of the book are the countless footnotes. Meant to add humor, they often detract the reader's attention, breaking up the normal cycle of reading and properly digesting a work. Otherwise, I'd say this an above-average rock biography.

Sidenote:
Another indication that glam is coming back. A Christmas Eve trip to Kmart netted toys for family pets and a surprise glam find! In the toy aisle, a Bratz brand tank top with the word "GLAM" spelled out in rhinestones. If that doesn't mean something huge, then I don't know what does.
