The article headline says it all: Aerosmith will play New Orleans Jazz Fest on Saturday, May 5. As of right now, I'm planning on attending. General Admission tickets are just $65. The fest itself runs across two weekends and there are tons of acts on the bill. I'm not looking forward to the 13 hour drive (each way) but flights are outrageous right now. Since Aerosmith isn't getting any younger, I figure I better take my chances to see them while I can!
Saxon are back with a new album called Thunderbolt, which will be released February 2. One of the tracks is "They Played Rock and Roll" written about the band Motorhead. The lyric video for the song is below. It's a nice tribute to Motorhead and Lemmy without being sappy or stupid.
All of a sudden, L.A. Guns is back with a vengeance. Reunited Tracii Guns and Phil Lewis released The Missing Peace last year. Now a live CD/DVD package is coming in March. It's called Made In Milan and is a recording/performance of the band's 2017 show at the Frontier's Music Festival. Here's the Frontiers announcement. I'm expecting this to be awesome. Pre-orders are now available.
Vinnie Vincent performed at the Atlanta KISS Expo yesterday. He was joined by Robert Fleischman (Vinnie Vincent Invasion) for some of the show. Here's a video of the entire performance. I'm going to take this to mean Vinnie Vincent is back - maybe we'll be seeing more of him. I hope so.
I don't have much to add here: Tom Petty's family released his cause of death yesterday. He died due to an accidental overdose from prescribed pain medication. He'd been touring with a bad hip that ended up being completely broken. Tom was in excruciating pain.
Another death due to drugs. He was taking Fentanyl, oxycodone, Xanax, Restoril, and Celexa. We're in the middle of an opioid crisis in the country. Most days it feels like no one in power even cares.
It's really happening! Def Leppard and Journey will tour together this summer. It's a co-headline run for 58 dates. I'll probably go to the Cincinnati date - except it's in an arena, not a shed, which I hate during the summer.

This would have been a fun night! Joe Perry held a CD release party at the Roxy in Hollywood on Tuesday.
Sweetzerland Manifesto comes out tomorrow. The album features a ton of collaborations with folks like Slash, Robin Zander, Johnny Depp, Gary Cherone and more. The album is on Joe's own label and he wrote most of the tracks by himself.
